I came across the offer below whilst searching Mr. Bezos' online emporium.
Notice the advertised battery capacity for these 16340 cells...

Another example of Amazon's failure to exclude fraudulent merchants from the platform. Caveat emptor, I suppose.

Discuss among yourselves.

I wonder what proportion of the buying public would not even question this.
Too many, sadly.

And the industry itself is partly to blame. When a legit 4000 Lumen (small print less than 60 second thermal runtime) flashlight is better than a 2000 Lumen flashlight, then obviously a 2.000.000 Lumen flashlight for $32 is the best.

Same thing with batteries, though it's a more quiet and natural progression there. 2400 mAh 18650 -> 2600 mAh -> 3200 mAh -> 3500 mAh -> 3600 mAh. And I honestly don't even know myself the current "max" for 16340, but I would guess around 750-800 mAh.

I think it's Andrew Wan (AW) who told the guy at the now defunct LightHound, that he had to fudge the numbers because everybody else was doing it and consumers were gravitating to the higher numbers.

Sad, but that's the way it is!
