By that logic nothing is zero emission, what did it take to make a bicycle, the steel, the rubber, the paint, the grease lube......
The only way to be zero emissions is to walk naked, cuz making clothes involves emissions too.
Besides that, what other options are there to produce light nowadays besides electricity? You're certainly not going to use candles for a bike light. That would result in higher overall emissions anyway.

Fact is every human being, really every animal, has an impact on the planet. Thankfully, nature has balance. Humans breathe in oxygen, breathe out CO2. Plants do the opposite. Plenty of organisms eat the waste generated by other animals.

Now if only human civilization could function like that. A lot of the waste we generate isn't usable by any life form. Some of it is toxic besides.

Then think once again, hmmm, what did it take to make this pedal powered generator.
Yep! I misread the question as a zero-emission light.
The people pushing all-electric anything aren’t doing it for the environment.
Well, that depends on the person. Some people actually think they are. They're wrong, of course.

Unfortunately, all the people who are happy to walk around naked.... are never the ones you actually want to see naked.

A visit to Black's Beach in the 80s, when I was a much younger man, disproves that contention. I observed many naked women there that were worthy of my younger gaze. The problem was their beauty sent me into the water to conceal the results.

Yep. I was also naked.

I see a few of those corny looking E Stangs running around my area. One gal I talked with at shopping parking lot said they're leasing the Mus-thing. She wouldn't tell me what her electric bill totals. My guess after recent rate increases she was ashamed to say.

GM should come up with something other than using the iconic Corvette name and badging

No EV for me. Honda Civic, all gas, as the Accord went Hybrid for 2023. And 2021 Honda Ridgeline V6, all gas. No thanks, as battery tech in cars is too new a technology for me to be the tester for their new technology.
