Not advocating electrics, but this gets a full WOW!

if you're wondering what he's doing in the beginning,, he's putting heat/energy into the tires.

As amazing and fast as it is I just can't take it seriously. Just because of the name.

Does anyone remember the Lingenfelter Suburban? I always wanted one as a kid. In high school, my girlfriend said she'd break up with me if I traded my car at the time for one, not that I could have afforded one (~$152k in 2025 US pesos).

9.9L engine, 550hp, 0-60 in 4.6 seconds... in 1994... in a Chevy Suburban.

I remember they had to use a cast iron pipe for the air intake because it was inhaling so much air that all of the plastic pipes they used were collapsing.

9.9L is like having coffee cans for cylinders, just massive!!

As a kid at Road America went to Can-Am* races, there were effectively no rules.
The 'Shadow' at one time had an 8.8L V8. When that car accelerated away from you (tails away shot) it took your breath away.

* the original Canadian-American series ended in '74,
the above race from '80 likely isn't unlimited and doesn't have all the BIG HITTERS from back in the day,, like McClaren below

Can-Am was faster than F1 in the early 70s'

IMSA in the early 90s' & Can-Am in the 70s', turbocharging couldn't be fully regulated and was the detriment to both.
The twin-turbo Porsche 917/30 in 1973 had almost xxxxx horsepower ,,, nobody really knew but easily 1200hp on full boost

You should see piston airplane engines. 5.125" bore for a Lycoming IO-360 and IO-540. Huge displacement. IIRC, the IO-360 is around 6L, IO-540 is around 9L. For the displacement, very low horsepower compared to automotive engines. However, you don't run your automotive engine flat-out every day. Pulling over due to a mechanical problem is also a bit less complicated in cars.

Why I will never buy a European new car....

It's that subscription mindset. Wage a war on drugs. Perpetual taxes. Unless EVERYONE in the world suddenly stops paying taxes, and can physically fend off a series of tyrannical governments, all this crap will just continue to get worse and worse. I made a statement about 20 years ago now that corporations wanted to create client-based consumers. I noticed this when I bought my first PC, all actually read all the stupid EULAs, and TOS, and fair use etc. Etc....and was like wtf? When I pulled out the documents for an old commodore 64, it had much "less" stringency on its agreements, and NO mention of licensing besides the name or commerical use. Even "newer" stuff like the SNES...go look up the manuals if you still have them.
