Hello everyone, purchased an Eternalight (xray) upon the recommendations here, and can't tell you how pleased I am! Makes trail walking at night a whole new, more enjoyable experience! Thank you.

Found a cheap, easy way to use the Eternalight on my cap. Cut both ends off a leather cellular phone case, the kind with elastic sides and a plastic front...shoved the Eternalight inside and used the existing clip to attach to my cap. Works great!

Used a Nokia 6162 case, 'cause that's what I had to sacrifice. A really nice unintended feature is to reverse the light (leather covers Eternalight buttons) and push it into the case so leather blocks the leds from shining upward into my eyes while walking with the light in hand. The plastic keypad is on the lower side. The reduced glare increases eye comfort on long treks.

Holding the Eternalight lower to the ground shows irregularities in the trail by creating shadows and makes night walking much safer. The Petzl Duo was my favorite, but illumination from head level does not show the path details well. What an improvement when walking on rough cattle trails, full of rocks and gopher holes with the Eternalight.

That's a nice idea, Greenjeens. I'll see if it works as nicely for me and my Eternalights too

I thought the Eternalight Ergo was about as close to 'perfect' as a 4 LED flashlight could be; then the Xray model came out, and then the Elite Xray. It's hard to think of what else could be done with this light, but somehow, I have a feeling the folks at Technology Associates have some plans in the works right now....

Heh Heh, ummm... in order to preempt any speculation, no - I am not working for, or at Techass (I'm in Singapore, remember?), though I wish that were the case

I have 4 Eternalights now (1 Ergo, 3 Elites), and as good as they come, simple mods like GreenJeens here make 'em even more useful.

They just have so much more potential. I'd have to say, the weakest point right now is that the Nichias top out at only 6400-6800mcd. The casing, too, could do with more physical features so that the Joe Average could more easily use his light - like putting it on a baseball cap, for instance.

But yeah - I'm hoping too that Tom and the gang at Techass bring out More Good Things.
