Is the $3 Cen-Tech on harbor freights site any good? Too late now... but I just bought one on ebay for a few dollars less. It's new and unopened. I'll be using for 5mm and ls mods.

You got it for a few dollars less than $3?!! Seriously, they are OK for the money. I got a few for friends and compared it to my Fluke 8060. DC accuracy is OK, but you can't really believe the hundredth volt, or sometimes even the tenth. AC accuracy was not too good and only has 0-200 and 750 volt AC modes. I didn't check the resistance or current modes. My guess is that the DC modes are probably OK, but don't believe accuracy to more than about a tenth of reading. Still pretty good for basic troubleshooting for $3. Even comes with battery and leads.

I've been happy with mine. I've only checked the DC modes against a few other meters (both digital and analog), and it was sufficient.

I got if for a few dollars less when you add up the shipping... AND the 5.95 handling fee /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Does this meter have an AC/DC amperage range?

It's amazing how accurate some cheap DMM's can be. I got one from MCM for $10 with a 20 amp range. It's close enough in accuracy to my Fluke, however, it's build is quite flimsy.

Only DC current, 200uA thru 200mA (fused) plus 10ADC unfused. Price seems to range from $3 to $10 at Harbor Freight, depending on day.

I leave these meters at my family's houses. That way I always have one on hand when I'm visiting and an electrical question arises. At 3 dollars, I don't mind if they go missing. I don't expect extreme accuracy, but then again, I used to
use analog meters /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

AC-V: 0-200-750V does do ac voltage though.

This is gonna be great for me... I've been using an old analog micronta... it's needle gets off all the time and I have to adjust it.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif None of that anymore /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
