I'm building a light, and I have a 2S3P 18650 array of batteries in it. Is there a charger that I can buy that will charge them in place? I don't want to have to pull them all out, charge them in a standard charger, and then put it all back together again. It's too much of a pain. I would prefer to wire a jack onto the light, and just be able to plug it in, charging them all at once.

The only thing I've seen so far is:
http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3379
but at 1.5A, that charger would take over 5 hours to charge the pack. Is there a 3A charger that I could use that anyone knows of?

Or perhaps, is there a better way to do what I want to do?

there is nothing smart about that "smart" charger :) what you need is say 2 seperate chargers (and full charge) or a balance charger.
and your shouldnt worry so much about the charge time, as that is a typical faster charge, you should (basically) only go to about 2Amps for charging what your talking about anyways.
you really only want to be at 1C for each cell unit, in the case that the other cell unit is failing. within reason.
if you need more speed, mabey you need more "storage"?
If you dont have Cell balance during charging, then i would concider that a bigger defect than a normal charging speed .

get a cheap hobby balance charger at the least, and tap out the center so you can keep the cells balanced.

Since you have a 2S3P pack, you can go up to about 6A. Just get a $40 Turnigy Accucel-6, dig up a 12V power supply and set the Turnigy to 5A, its maximum charging current. You'll need to plug two things in though, the balance plug and the main charging wires. I'm not sure about how you'd wire that up, though it shouldn't be too hard if you have some extra space.

If you don't want to buy an expensive balance charger, this is another choice for quick and balance charging:
Connect 3 of cells in parallel so you will have one wire for positive and one wire for negative and this will be your bank 1
Your bank 2 will be wired same way then these two banks are wired in series.
Now you can make 2 separate charging connectors, one for bank 1 and another for bank 2 and use 2 of these chargers and recharge each bank separately. Just make sure lighting device is off during recharge.
