I use and enjoy a Maha9000 charger. I like the various features for exercising and refreshing my NiMh batteries. My question is this: Can I do the same for my 18650 and 14500 batteries with an appropriate charger? As it is I charge my Li-ion batteries and use them. Can I “exercise” them or is that necessary?

Thanks for Your replies,

New cells seem to earn their true capacities after a few charge and discharge cycles. But I don't think it is necessary to exercise them too often like NiMHs.

You shouldn't drain them empty. In case you leave them still for long a time checking their voltage level in 4-6 months when stored is enough. I always store my cells at %40 capacity and charge them fully when needed.

not nessisary, but checking them for capacity is still a good thing to have.

They really need to make the "Cradle" charger with charge and discharge, and volt readings and capacity numbers, and all that other good stuff, in a 4X charger. until they do the hobby chargers (even cheaper ones) suffice to fulfill that role, one at a time.
