I'm looking for a Sure Fire flashlight because I've heard they're the best around. I also found out they expensive flashlights. Does anyone have a used one for sale? I didn't see a for sale sub forum on here. Also is there a knock brand that makes Sure Fire type lights. I really want that kind of bright focused beam as cheap as possible.

Thanks

Here's the Market Place, lights galore including Surefires. Other knives and gadgets too.
The Surefire G2 is a great light, and around $25-30. Alot of brick and mortar stores sell these models, it's a very good first Surefire, or even first flashlight.

Might give a look at the B/S/T group....you may find one there.

Thanks guys. That was some quick response time. I'll have to look for the B/S/T I looked earlier but didn't see it. I must have been looking too hard! lol I know it'll be expensive, just looking for the cheapest way to get one!

define "best light"

imho at the kind/size of light You are searching for, its not the best choice.
Thats an ongoing debate, but at this output an actual LED-light (Fenix P3D) blows any CR123 halogen light out of the water - but thats probably just my impression.

If You dont have the light by now, how about thinking of another kind of battery?
(I try not to produce unnecessary waste - a light using CR123s and running for just under one hour is pretty much a joke).

thats why I would say: get a Streamlight Scorpion 18650 from www.lighthound.com - if it absolutely has to be short running halogen,
else get a Fenix L2D-Ce or P3D-CE (www.fenix-store.com)

I own quite some lights for quite some years now, there are some SFs with them. The light that sees the most use is a SF 6P modded with a led.
Imho the halogen days in this class are over (such a light like the one in the pics runs at that output for 2.5 hours with an 18650 Li-Ion, while both halogens quit at 50 mins max).
For that runtime advantage, for the dimming, for the white light, it even beats my 9N and 9NT (which are modded with a better batt stick, giving them 1 hour 30 mins) - halogen is dead in this size ;)

Just because of a similar tread in another forum, I did some pics shortly:

SF 6P vs. Cree XR-E P4 Led (inside 6P housing)

for my eye, the led looks much more white than in the pics

I never liked changeable beams, but the Scorpion does an excellent job here. Was really wondering, because I did not like it, when I got it. Easily kicked the 6P and seemed almost as bright than the led when doing the pics. If a led would not offer more than double the runtime + the good dimming feature, I might think of going back to Halogen

PS: No light has been optimized for that "test", they were all taken out of my "lights"-box, where they rested for the last weeks/months. Not the Li-Ion cell, nor the CRs of the 6P were fresh (but the batts are totally unused, just rested in the box also)
.. and best of all: that Scorpion uses a rechargeable batt!

you can get LED Surefire performance (or greater) and as-good build quality for about half the price from any number of other brands (Fenix, Lumapower, etc.). Expect to pay $60-$80, but that still beats the $135 for an L1 (which is the SF I would get if I had the money).

I've never owned a SF so I'm not privvy to the special high that owners seem to get. However, I also draw the line at about $70 for a good LED flashlight. I simply don't use them enough to warrant spending any more.

No offence here, but
Why not, just once, save what you would have spent on two "lesser" lights and buy a single SF. I will never understand this, how many lights can you use (I know, I know, excluding the fanatics here) but a small bunch of great lights is better than a big bunch of other ones. Anyway, that's just my feeling. Obviously, to each his own.

I'm only after one multi-purpose, high-power LED light, otherwise I agree with you.

I just ordered a lumapower M3 kit and Fenix L2D/L1 body combo. I'll keep whichever one I like and give the other to my father for Xmas. Then that's it for me and I'm only a net $70 poorer instead of $130 for the L1.

I know, it's "only $60", but with all my gadget infatuation such an attitute would quickly drive me bankrupt.

well, if you want a good cheapish light, then get the G2L, or, if you prefer, the G2(in Tan, OD, Black, or yellow) and get the P60L separately, this way you have a spare incan if you want it, and an LED for other applications. I think this is the route I'm taking, but I don't have the spare incan bulb cuz it burned out on me. So I'd just get the P60L (or two).

Hope this helps,
Flash

Not ENTIRELY unlike Surefire there is a 2x123 Brinkmann Maxfire XL at Walmart or Target that ain't completely shabby.

But since I've discovered LED, I rarely ever even pick up a 123 incandescent.

Go to Target and get a River Rock 2AA 3W camo light for $24.95. It isn't quite a Cree on 2x123 but it ain't a bit shabby! It uses a push/twist like a SF and runs peachy on rechargeable NimH (Hybrids in my case).

The Brinkmann Maxfire is a good light. Surefire G2 ish but less price and a bit more output. There are also some LED Drop-ins that will fit in there for more output and good runtime.

If you want bright and focused, it's hard to get under the price of this DX light. With 2 RCR123 batteries and a charger, it is around $30 shipped.

Quality is no where near Surefire but is performance is definitely comparable.

You might want to change your title to:

"Looking for a bright light for cheap"

So you don't get flooded with lights above your price range(What is your price range?)

Battery preferences?
Size?
Output?
