Here is a nice pic of the surefire ls setup. They are using the luxeon optics, not their own reflector.

they also have some led and incandescent combo lights. It looks like they have been reading through our forums, reading about our own mods.

Actually that site has lots of nice prototype pics, they even have a pic of the nimh replacement for the Li 123 battery

They're using our own mods against us.

I like the LED/Halogen combination.

I just wonder how bright the LED's are.

3 LED's may not be bright enough, but if they are 7000mcd! Then maybe it would be bright enough to eliminate carring a seperate LED flashlight.

Three LED's is plenty bright to read a map by, or write a report. I've turned on my SF 6P in my car at night a few times, and *all* my night vision was gone. It's just too bright for close up work. Think of the target market: LEO's. Some of them spend a great deal of time in their police cars. Running licence checks; etc on the computer, and reading hot sheets, and writing reports, is a perfect job for a small 3 LED light. And when you need it: 60 or 65 lumens of the light SureFire is famous for. It's a good idea. This would be ideal with the S rank Nichia LED, of course, and considering what SureFire is certain to charge for such a light, if it ever goes into production, the *should* use the best grade of LED's!

I assume the LED's would be regulated also.

What I meant was I wonder how bright the 3 LED's would be compared to other LED flashlights currently out.

For me that would make or break if its worth buying. Hopefully they will use 6800+mcd S1 ranked LEDs but with them being so hard for Peter to get I don't see how SureFire can get them either.

I would say that if it (in LED mode) was as about as bright as a Lightwave 2000 then it would be worth it.

I just have a feeling they won't be available for a long time.
