I just got my 3aa mini mag in the mail today It seems to have a contact problem though as it will flicker when I tap on the body even just lightly will dim the light. I have tried new batteries in it as well. I have got my 2aa mag to do the same once. what do I need to clean to make these work correctly? will I need to dissasemble the switch It seems that is were the problem is coming from thanks

if its the top twist switch type, it disconnects the battery itself by pushing it down with a hunk of plastic. increasing the spring tention on the bottom, and cleaning ALL the contact areas helps.
clean the bottom spring, the bottom of the battery, and the top tab, and the contact area for the top of the battery.
an Eraser on the end of a pencil is slightly abrasive and does little damage to things, as long as you get any bits out after.

the TOP contact inside the battery compartement is the hardest to reach, and the most likly suspect, you can potentially disasemble, or just get a dental tool or something up there and scrape the tarter off (oxidation) of the little metal tab up there.

Another way to clean the contacts in the Incadescant Minimag is to remove the head, remove the bulb and batteries and dip the head end of the light in some cleaning alcohol, Isopropyl or similar, shake dry and then replace the bulb and batteries.
