CMG Infinity Graphs? With Li cell?

I was curious if (ahem) "someone" might be willing to do a battery/brightness run test* on the CMG Infinity?

It would be very cool to get this vs. a Li AA battery as well. Heck, I'd even be willing to supply the batteries.

Oops. Forgot the "*".

* For what it's worth, these graphs are VERY cool, and provide very good insight.

Oh alright, I'll do it.

But you'll have to wait until the Photon 3 in low mode burns out. I just put it on this morning, and it might be there (hogging up the instrument & the computer it's attached to) for a couple of days.

Do you want me to do one as well? I have one Lithium AA cell left over from the lot Verge sent me for the ALS tests, and I`m sure I can dig out a brand new Duracell from somewhere too.

And after all- 2 graphs are better than one!

Personally, I don't think it matters who does it as long as they share the info! :)

My guess is that it's better to cover more ground and test different devices.

The P3 is starting to noticeably poop out.
Tomorrow morning looks likely to start a test on the Infinity.

Any specific color?
I have a white, a flaming brilliant red (brightest red Infinity I've seen), a green, and maybe a yellow available.

Well, urine luck.
I got an "extension" on the last of the loaners, and I'm waiting for a replacement for another that blew up in testing.

That means I can start your test tonight, assuming I can find my white Infinity.

Thanks. I didn't manage to get the batteries in the mail, was sidetracked dealing with the car doctor.

Well, then it looks I'll be starting with the alkaline test. I checked through all my batteries, and I don't have any lithiums to spare for this. The only ones I found are the two that Brock sent for when the Arc LS goes into production and requires a test.

Well, I got the bad news this morning.
Your battery test will probably have to be stopped before it's finished.

That's because I'll need to shut the host computer down tomorrow morning to install the PCI board used by the ProMetric System - a photometer, radiometer, and beam profile analyzer all in one. The whole construction on the east wall (including the shelf the flashlight & sensor are on) will have to come down, so the test will be ruined anyway even if the computer itself could be left on.

If the test is indeed stopped prematurely, I'll restart it with a new battery at the earliest opportunity.
I'd rather sacrifice a 59 cent battery than delay the installation of a $9,000.00 instrument.

FYI I'll still use the current setup for battery decay tests, since it's immune to ambient light and day/night cycling, whereas the ProMetric will be sensitive to those variations.

I apologise for the inconvenience.

Ok, you have a new Li AA cell in the mail. The two 123As included are just a bonus.

Since my "Little Shop of LED Horrors" is now officially shut down for "remodeling", I took a screen shot of the Infinity chart in progress, before nuking it out of existence.

inf1.jpg

As you can see, after less than a day, it loses about 20% of its initial brightness and then levels off quite nicely at that point.
The plot is 1 pixel every 15 minutes.
When the test is redone and a chart is made up, that slope will appear much more shallow and flat than this time-compressed version does.

But you'll have to wait till I reopen the new and improved test lab before I can retest this and provide a proper chart.
thanks
