I have just received my free gift from CMG, I entered their website competition and won, I got a smoke metal Infinity.

It was very easy I just filled out a form with my address and had to write a comment, so I wrote something very snivelling and grovelling about liking the Infinity, although saying that I have always liked them very much and after months of wanting one and not being able to buy them over here I finally ordered from the States.
The relevant part of this how ever is that with the gift I got a booklet with CMG products and included is the Reactor.
There is an illustration and some specs.
This info is not on their website at the moment so I'll try and scan the booklet later on today and then create a link.
If I am not successful I'll maybe send it to Darell and ask if he would be good enough to do it for me?
It's just that the last time I tried to create a link I used Webshots, I took a photo of a mini mag with the nexstar bulb and one with the standard (beam shots) and got a mail from Webshots saying they were terminating my account for uploading indecent material!

I only ever uploaded two photos total, it was the first time I tried it and that happens!

Sometimes I'm very unlucky like that, I wrote back asking if they would maybe explain how a photo of a white beam shining on a white door could be considered indecent they said there was a mistake and I was welcome to carry on using Webshots.
I felt like a right pervert!

On a side note I managed to find some Energizer e2e Lithium batts in Denmark, I know it's been said many times before but they make a huge difference in the Infinity, although saying that I have never found them to be as dim as some have said, I have three now and all of them provide enough light for what they were designed in fact I have Lithiums in two of them and an Alkaline in the third as sometimes I want the light dimmer.
I'll send this info as I believe there was a thread a while ago and some were speculating on this new light, so I hope it will be of interest.

Can someone fill me in on this light - I am still not sure what it is? I know I am impatient, but perhaps you could type in a description.
Thanks

Ok well we can see if this works?

If you get the link it will be somewhat small so just click on it and then it's rather enormous, at least you'll be able to get a rough idea and read the little text there is on it.
I think it may be a similar type beam to the PT Impact as they mention Custom Optics.
It does also say "One Reactor LED is 3X brighter than your standard 4 LED Cluster, although this may be due again to the light being magnified through the optics, it does not say anymore about the LED its self apart from it being true white.

Sorry the quality of the scan I was hoping it would be a little clearer.

Thanks for trying but when I get to Yahoo Photos from your link, all I find is "This album is currently empty."

I am really very curious about this light. So if you get a chance to try to have someone else post it, I would appreciate it.

You may need to edit your folder settings in Yahoo to share to the public. If it's set to private, it will appear empty to everyone else.

OK, I could not get back before as I have been away from the computer.
Vegeta, you were right I didn't check the settings, I only just opened this today and have been running around trying to do other things (well that and the fact that I've got the brain of a rocking-horse!)

Try the link now it's set to public and if it still does not work in a final blaze of incompetence I'll send it as an attachment to someone so they can get it for you. Sorry.

That did it! Interesting...

"Configuration: One superbright LED with custom optics"

If that isn`t a Luxeon Star, I`m not a fat Welsh person.

Sure does look sorta Arc-LS-2AA shaped....

My guess is that it's either the new LED from Nichia or an underdriven LS with custom optics to increase the throw. I doubt an LS driven to specs would run for 10 hours at full brightness on two AA batteries.

So it looks like feeble competition for the Arc LS rather than a threat to the viability of an Arc AA, if Peter ever chooses to offer one.

I didn't see any price information; any Idea what the thing will cost?

what light is giving the bottom beamshot on that picture comparing it to the reactor? I'd have to say that the beamshots look an awful lot like an LS beamshot, not an Impact or Rebel beamshot (both use regular white LED's with a focusing lens)

Looks to me like CMG is going for a cheaper version of the Arc ls. I does sound interesting though. How much are these
going to be?

Polycarbonate head..yuck.

Seems very much like an LS, there's certainly enough room in that huge head. Pricing is the key.

It was posted in another thread that the pricing was to be around $32. Not sure if this if final or even fact. I am guessing that it is an underdrven LS largely based on the fact that they seem to be paying a lot of attention to the color of the beam. Still 32.00 seems pretty cheap if true and LS.

Grummond -

Now that you finally got it to work, I just heard your call...

Looks like you've got it now, but if you need help in the future, I'll do what I can. Thanks for the image.

Seems to me that they would need to underdrive the LS since it would be tough to heat-sink the thing to polycarbonate. Still it could be a very nice light in its own right. Perfect emergency light for the trunk with a set of Li batteries in there...

One good thing about CMG is that they seem to have good market presence. I see the Infinity everywhere now so at least when the reactor is released, it should be easily available.

Thanks for posting the photo brochure. This is all becomming very suspensefull... waiting for new flashlights to slowly find their way out of the darkness of pre-release hype and into the revelation of their own mass produced illumination!

Who needs soap operas?

At $32 I know I'll be picking one up. The ARC LS may be a higher quality light, but it's far too expensive for my tastes. Think about it, CMG is giving us an LS flashlight for only $3 more than a PT Impact. Bring it on!
