CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

We just got the word that our government order for CMG Ultra-Gs would be shipping within the next few days. The Ultra-G differs slightly from the civilian models. The major differance is that the government model has Type III hard anodizing as required per government tender (and of course O.D. Green). We measured prototypes here and found them to be an impressive 200+ footcandles. I have posted photographs of a prototype at: http://www.countycomm.com/light9.htm

Wow, 200+ FC. That is certainly impressive, indeed. At what distance from the light meter?

Looks good Frank, but you may want to consider compressing those two ".jpg" files.. Together, they total over 2/3's of a MB and loading takes forever on dialup - just a suggestion.

Measurement made at the meter face ...GE type 214 meter seems as bright as the Arc.

The finish is really hard we tried to scratch it with a hard object and the Type III finish feels like Glass.

Thanks for the info Frank...hand picked bulbs...hmm...probably "S" rank or better...hard anodizing...green (well, that`s ok). I wish I had not vowed not to buy anymore lights. I would like one of these. I wonder why CMG took so long to make these...I would have thought they would have done this years ago.

Brighter than which ARC? LS or AAA? Also, is it significantly brighter than the ordinary Infinity AA?

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

Well me to, But it took a larger Government order to help push them to make this product..I think it will be a real winner ......AA battery is used so much around the world it just made to much sense...Frank...

Frank, would you by any chance have a lithium you could drop in there and meter?

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

About the same as the Arc AAA ..As for the brightness of the original infinity it is at least double +

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

I will try some lithium tonight...I ment Batteries.. and test with the light meter...

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

Great! I will look forward to your post. I agree with your opinion...this will be a popular light. I can see why the military would like these. Bright, 25 hour run time...makes great sense to me...water proof to 15 feet...The Infinity had evolved into a very dependable light...if only it was not so dim...

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

One last question...did they leave the anodizing off the reflector?

Ken

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

No they did not, They did anodize the head output was about the same and there is an issue with the raw aluminum and salt water reaction. I am sure it would have been some what brighter but it's a toss up ....If they would have took a bright cut on the head they would have to clear coat anodize the refector ...One more process. Cost Cost

Thanks Frank. Just preordered a few!

Re: CMG ULTRA-G (Government) Shipping *Moved to Dealer\'s Corner*

The pictures of the green anodize looks too shiny to be type III anodize. I thought the type 3 was always dull unless its really thin?

Anyway I'm excited about the ultra and the price seems good too. Now should I wait for a silver one or pre-order a green? I do have an Arcfinity after all? hmm, decisions decisions.
