Blacklight,
The CR2 mini HL looks really interesting, but... (you knew that was coming)
I did a rough calc on the light output of the low level and got approx 20.8lm, which for me seems far too high for a "low" level (and you knew that was coming too...) .
Is it possible to reduce the low level output down to say 10-12 lm which is more than enough light for camp tasks and walking along formed trails and at the same time that would increase the low lvl r/t to approx 10-12 hr, and IMHO make the HL far more useful. I imagine that implementing this change would only require the change of a few circuit board component values.
Hi level please keep the same.
Is there output regulation for both levels?
Is the 75lm quoted on Hi the emitter lumens or "out-the-front"?
I would also prefer a 1xCR123 battery but realise the housing tooling would be set now so would be impractical to change.

p.s. it is cruel teasing us about 2009 models...
let me see if I can answer most the questions real quick (running between meetings, this time of year is CRAZY!!))
75L is the emitter, we are working with a large group of manufacturers to come up with set standards mid 2008, at that time, you will start seeing better, truer, measurments from everyone. We should all be using the same or similar equipment at that time as well to measure.
it is regulated in both high and low, the curve is prety stable.
On the lower low, I am going to forward to the rest of my team, I agree and we have been talking about changing it. let me follow up.
the 2009 prototypes showed up this week...why is 2009 so far away??
Thanks for the quick reply! It's great when the manufacturers listen.:twothumbs
It will be great when the manufacturers all use a standard for their performance figures.
Zebralight already won the race. Unless you mean between fenix and Coleman. It appears Coleman is well on their way, but as we know, the Fen boys spring things on us with no notice, so who knows?...I hear Fenix is working on a headlamp. Who will be the first to market with a production Cree Headlamp?
