Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows of an infrared LED that reads as any color other than white, when viewed under a Digtal camcorder.
Thanks!

The color sensitivity of the ccd chip in your camcorder is achieved by different filters on the pixels. Those filters are transparent for IR light, so you can´t have any chance to get colour IR pictures.

It would surely be possible to create ccds with special filters, for example "very near IR"(700...800 nm) instead of blue, "near IR" (800...900 nm) instead of green, and "somewhat further near IR" (900...1000 nm) instead of red, but I bet no one could afford it.

Heh, what color were you expecting? All near IR is invisible to humans and has no color... if anything, it would be a very, very deep and dark red. The "color", or rather false color, depends as the previous poster notes is dependant on your CCD. I've seen some see IR as blue, and some as white. Yet another as purple.

You'd have to look at individual CCDs. Another thing you could do is just false-color the image after it's taken with an IR filter.
