Sold/Expired === Colossus & 4" Turbo Head ===

Could any of the owners take some pictures of the setup they have.

Thanks.
Benny

Benny, not sure what you want to see. I'm waiting on a higher power driver before installing bulb. Here's a couple (click thumbnail) comparisons with Ellie-2 & Setapong's Mammoth body.

Hey Lux,

How are you going to configure your Colossus, i.e. bulb, driver/switch, power pack?

With one I'm gonna use to make a setup like Modamag lists here. Then need to see if Jonathan can do wider bore for 275W &/or 400W reflectors. Existing reflector bore is 0.50" in Colossus.

  • 250W bulbs need 0.50" bore
  • 275W bulbs need 0.60" bore (O-64656 0.56" & GE FNT - 0.58")
  • 400W 64663 needs 0.65" bore (actual 0.64")
  • 400W 64664 & 65 need 0.73" bore (actual 0.725")

Oh yeah the 458 will fit easy. I checked all bulbs that I have in my desctructive test thread -- 250W & below will fit in this bore. Also, the IRC bulbs fit.

I will take 1 100mm Head w/o reflector
1 light stipple reflector
1 Borafloat lens
1 UCL lens

Total $294.00

I just saw Bill Laffertys set up of the colossus head on the mammoth the other day and it fits perfectly. Its an incredible setup . he running the 64623 with the 4- 8x1650 in a series parallel configuration battery pack so yes it fits. It also fits the original round elephant body. The great thing about this set up was the beam pattern. very smooth, no artifacts. The head is incredible and I can hardly wait till mine shows up.

Bullet Bob, I have a LS setup being made, the reason I ordered LS was to eliminate any artifacts so I'm glad none were visible, how was the throw w/ the LS reflector you saw?

Hello Pete,

I'll answer for Bob since he didnt get a chance to put the light through its paces at night, the throw is outstanding. You get a huge spill of light and a brilliant center area that easily lights up and allows you to identify a man sized object at 200 yards. It may go beyond that, but my test area wasnt any longer.

Here's a shot of the Collossus head on the Mammoth body.
