Guys, as promissed earlier over the holiday break I finalized the parallel adapter design. I want to make the negative end ABSOLUTELY SAFE. There are lock nut and insulator sleeve separating the central (+) to the negative plate.

I was able to fire up my mill to make couple of these.

They are now available to order for $40/each.

Should be able to deliver somewhere in the proximity of 80 Amps with the all brass constructions.

Jonathan, are these setup for 1s4p or 2s2p ? I missed where you talked about this.

Can I also assume with extra guides that you could setup a safer 4s2p or 6s2p?

I ordered a couple & extra guides in any case just now. :paypal:

Guys, everything is going out in tomorrow's mail.
You should have a email with Delivery Confirmation (where possible).

With BSBG stake, we now have one BFH left from the first batch.

I going to try the new 400W bulb later this week, wish me luck.

Great work Jonathan. I am very impressed.

Please put me down for:

1 - All Parallel Adapter
2 - spare retainers
4 - dummy cells

I will send PP as soon as I know the price on the Parallel Adapter.

Is there any plan for HA black color and/or smooth reflectors.

Thanks.

Already having purchased some samples of Jonathan's work, I can only add my unequivocal testament to the unerring quality of his work. (Plus he is a nice guy to deal with also.)

Hello Jonathan,
Thanks for the update on the parallel adapter.

Please change my order as follows:

2 parallel adapters $80

Paypal coming later today.

Also see PM for other questions.

I got mine the other day and I must say it is impressive, both in size and workmanship. I am currently running an AW driver, 7 Sony 18650s with an Osram 64640 150w bulb. It took low and medium on 8 cells, but high flashed the first bulb. Must be that 50 hour life not liking much overdrive...

Here it is compared to an FM 2 1/3D w 2 1/2" Throwmaster:

And just for fun, the head on a Mac 1D. With a 1331, this throws farther than the 1185 with the Throwmaster on the 2 1/3D above. But it does look a bit silly 😱.

BSBG, so the 64640 works with 7 cells and a dummy at close to full power? whats the run-time and lumen guesstimate with the 7 cell setup? Who makes dummy 18650's?

It runs great - very impressive and technically within the 150w limit of AW's driver. Current draw is probably 6-7 amps, so run time should be around 10 minutes. I tried lighting the Sunday paper this am and no go - cells were down to 3.8v. I recharged them and got a slow smolder and a puff of flame - then I realized it was still on medium . Switching to high led to instant ignition.

I measured some voltages at the bulb on sevral lights yeaterdy, but stopped before this one as I melted a test lead onto a perfectly good 64275. Pack voltage with 7 cells is 28.5v or so which is probably just about 24v to the bulb when fresh. Spec on the bulb is 6000 lumens at 24v, and this set up is quite a bit brighter than a 623 at 4k lumens +/-.

As donn pointed out, I got 2 of the dummy cells from Modamag. I should have gotten 3 so I could try a 64458...

Guys, last night I brought the shorter version of the Colossus with a 623 bulb to our local get together. It was HOLLA fun.

The build configuration was as follows.

Standard Body
Light Stipple Reflector
UCL Lens
AW's stock switch
4x Konion VT 18650
4 cell adapter configured for series.

I threw the whole thing together within 20 minutes before the event.

I beginining to like the LS much more than the VLOP. And trying to salvage every lumens with the UCL.

You don't realize how bright 4K lumens is until you turn off the light and don't notice a significant difference.

The incand newbie that I am, I blew 2x 64657

My favorite Colussus setup so far is

Colussus head w/ either reflector
Osram 64623 bulb
regular Colussus body + one extension
8 cell battery holder setup in series/parallel
8 x 18650 safe chemistry cells producing about 16.4 volts
AW soft switch

Runtime is somewhere around 25 minutes. The light gives good illumination at 350 yards. Brightness is way above that of my Polarion PH4, which is 4,000 lumens.
