Hi all,

I have a new YL/GN Surefire Aviator and really want to like the YL/GN color but side by side next to my mini-mag red LED, the YL/GN color just isn't as cool looking as red. Red has it's advantages and disadvantages, YL/GN has it's own set of advantages and disadvantages. I would like to own both the red Aviator AND the YL/GN Aviator but that's too cost prohibiting.
Other than the YL/GN Aviator's 12 hour runtime on high mode vs. only 3 hour runtime on high mode for the red Aviator, what are some reasons I should keep the YL/GN?
Please convince me I've made the right choice! (I'm not interested in the other color options for the Aviator such as amber, blue, etc. at this time for various reasons).
Thanks all,
Batman

I picked Y/G. Possibly would have chosen Amber if I had the choice but at the time it was red or Y/G.
The red aviator isn't particularly useful for my uses. First of all, if I'm using red it's primarily for the adapted night vision advantage which in my experience is best at around 660nm, deep red. The red Aviator isn't that red.
I also find that red is generally pretty terrible to use, particularly walking around. It flattens everything out and everything just looks red basically.
With the Y/G I can still distinguish colours to a certain degree, definitely much more so than with red. It also has a better perception of depth and so on walking around.

For me the only two choices I would consider are Y/G or amber. Overall, runtime included, the Y/G might well be the best choice for me.
If the red was 660nm then I'd be choosing from 3, the blue has no appeal (utility) to (for) me.
