Convoy flashlight opinions?

I love my Convoy lights! I was so into OLight but i rarely use them anymore(occasionally at best) i seem to have Convoy for all my routine needs.
The Green and Orange emitters are most used and though i loved the Orange at first the Green is my favorite. Throws a great beam into the woods allowing me to pick up the deer eyes.
The deer that my wife hit this morning whilst driving to work or as she said hit her. Struck front drivers bumper slid up the bonnet and passenger windscreen exiting over the passenger roof.
Small cracks in the bumper and a streak of drool the length of the path it took. Happened so fast she said but she was looking at the deer looking at her through tha glass in slow motion lol.
We dodged a bullet for sure.

I only recently got my first Conroy light, a T4. I do like it, but am not quite 100% convinced of the brand.

The UI modes don’t work quite as advertised; most importantly it’s missing the ‘100% only’ mode, which is one of the reasons I wanted this light.

I did email Simon, and he got back to me quickly. He apologised and said that they had updated the driver, but not the description on the website.

I’m not particularly impressed with Simon’s response, but I found a mode that works for me, and I am very impressed with how the light works, even on Eneloops.

I may well order another Convoy light, but I’m not fully on board with them yet.

^ It's a very "china" style of doing business. I don't think that will ever change.
Personally, I'm used to a capitalistic style of business.
Make good products
Have good CS
Warranties actually do something
etc

Damn, she was lucky indeed!
There's a lot of moose around where I live, and they say it's 50/50 whether it goes over or through the windshield if you hit one.

I don't have any dedicated green beams yet, other than an Emisar Noctigon K9.3 with as Osram W1 Green on the secondary channel.
But I do have an Noctigon K1 thrower with W1 Green on my wishlist, plus a Convoy S8 with CSLNM1.13 Green.

I really like green light as illumination for night time walks.

I know this is a bandaid when you'd ideally need stitches, but if you set the T4 to a mode group that starts at 100% and disable mode memory, it'll work mostly as a 100%-only light. It's how I use my M2 (mode group 5 [100%-20%-1%] with no memory), though in my case I do use those lower modes with a certain frequency.

I’ve disabled memory mode and set it so it comes on at lower power, (maybe 30% ?), then full power.

This is OK, but I’m mostly annoyed at Convoy for not describing the functions correctly on the website. It’s still wrong now…

I still like the T4 though. I’ve never specified an emitter and colour temp before, and I’m really liking the 519a 5700k.

I only buy the Convoys with the simple 4 mode set up. I flirted with complicated systems like Anduril 2 but keeping it simple stupid is my mantra now.
So Convoy is still dabbling with the click-to-cycle setup. I was hoping they would utilize something a bit more modern now, as it's been years since I bought my S2+, and I am starting to get accustomed to Anduril (at least the features that I want from it).

That said, for all the options Anduril offers, the KISS-mantra (Keep It Simple, Stupid) is exactly what I want sometimes, like for my emergency lights. Where click-to-cycle is perfectly fine.

I actually like the memory. I set it for normally the 2nd step for initial turn on and it’s usually good enough for around a dark house. Bump it to 3rd setting in the yard when checking perimeter for critters and what i will call turbo but i guess is the 4th and highest(100%) setting when i really need to see deep into the woods. Low is rarely used but in bedroom so as not to wake my wife.
But to each his own.

Convoy spent its years up until 2016 on the awful 3x5 firmware until Biscotti was adopted. Simon is great in almost every field, but he's not a man that changes setups quickly or easily.

I'll guess
1%-10%-40%-100%
Most of his lights are in that range. Some will swap the (40%) with 30, 35 or 50%
You won't notice a huge difference between them. Between 30 and 50% you will.

Thank you for the information. I guess I got the awful one then. My "Convoy S2+ Red XM-L2 7135 x 3 3/5 Modes" was purchased September 2017.

Sorry to hear that. The "3x5 Modes" gives it away.

I had two Convoys from these 3/5 times, an S2 and a C8 (old models, not + on either). I could deal with it on the C8, but utterly despised it on the S2 because of the on-time memory and blink on low being atrocious on an EDC torch. I'd sworm off of Convoy until I saw toykeeper's post on the new UI, and purchased an M1 to try it out.

Two driver swaps later the old ones were all gucci.

What could be the best Convoy from the T serie, something that has long runtime on low, that starts always on low etc... Is the T2 good?

The T2, T3 and T5 AFAIK use the exact same driver, just with different form factors and, in the case of the T5, beam collimation.

For runtime, you'll want the T4, that uses two cells. And you can set it to start on low by disabling mode memory and putting it on a mode group that starts at 1%.

Not really sure the numbers but my old eyes don't see a huge jump from the 3rd brightest to the brightest. It highest is definitely very bright but i mainly stay on 3rd as it bright enough and doesn't get hot like 4th.
Try a different battery. I had that problem with an older Eneloop Pro, and when I switched to new Ladda the jump was more noticeable. Or try Vapcell H10 for a 14500.
