An adaptor so I could use a SureFire KL1 LED head, and an Arc LS twist on/off body?

This would make a very short flashlight more powerful than any of the Arc LS's, and much shorter than any SureFire body on a KL1 head.

I imagine this would be relatively easy for someone who 1) has a metal lathe 2) knows the 2 thread sizes. 3) has some aluminum tubing the right size.

It would wind up being a pretty short piece of aluminum tube with two sets of outside threads. I don't know if there would be a different diameter for the two ends, but it seems possible.

I can't be the first person to think of this, but a search did not turn anything up (assuming I used the right words), but I assume it's been done.

If so, can someone here let me know who's done this before, so I could have them make me one? Many thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, it's been done. Look at McGizmos's site for an example (if memory serves) ....

The ARC twistie has external threads, so the adapter needs internal threads for that side. I don't have a KL1, so I don't have that info handy but I'm pretty sure teh ehad has an internal thread, so the adapter would have external and internal threads.

I think someone makes a twisty body for the one cell Surefires. Did you search for that too?

Unless you can find something that someone did a run of, it's going to be expensive. By the time you got through the cost, you may find out that you would have been better of just getting a vital gear body.

I am looking for something similar, Only I want an adaptor that allows me to mount a SF KL1 head onto a standard SF weaponlight body. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If you have checked to make sure that the parts will fit together, you may be able to have one machined if you send the light and the kl1 head to one of the machinists here. Don't be supprised if you find it cost $40 or more for such custom work. As one of my friends said, it seems to always take 4 hours to set up a new project.

Getting it annodized to match is, of course, a seperate issue.

If all you want is to use the KL1 head with a twistie body, why build an adaptor to mate it to the Arc body? That only makes sense if the body has something more, but a twistie body is only a hunk of metal. No switches, or springs, or anything tricky.

I don't know if Vitalgear build a twistie only body.

Steelwolf, VG used to make a simple twisty but it has been discontinued. I agree that it would be the shortest and simplest body for the KL1.
They pop up on B/S/T once in a while so it may be worth posting a WTB.

VG make the FB1. It's VERY small and offers you a clickie. This one works like the SF type not the QIII type.ie push momentary and full push for on/off.
I have one on my KL1 and it's TINY!
IIRC,not much/any bigger than the twistie VG I had a while back.
HTH,and saves you a buck or two! Phil. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
