Couldn\'t wait! AA CuproARC

I couldn't wait for Mr. Ted Bear's invention (the ARCfinity adapter) to get here - (plus I don't yet have an Infinity body to screw it into.)

So, I put together my own AA setup out of copper- 1/2 inch pipe and two end caps. Holds an AA battery perfectly.

The front cap is threaded for the ARC AAA head and soldered on. The back cap is removable for changing the battery. Tapped for a 4-40 screw to keep it on securely.

Had to add a thick O-ring behind the ARC head to keep it from screwing in too deep past the threads.

Not as elegant or durable as the ARCfinity, but it works!

Looks like something that goes in a box - and I ain't talking about no cardboard box either.

Actually, it's quite attractive, all polished and coppery. The color of the casing and the color of the LED complement one another.

Thanks!

- I didn't use the turquoise ARC head to make a fashion statement though- Just didn't want to take the chance of messing up my only other ARC, the CPF Ltd. Edition one.

Nice... How did you thread it

Not having the proper tap available, what I did is drill out the copper about 1/40th inch oversized and built up a layer of solder around the hole, and threaded it with the ARC head itself, solder being soft enough to thread with aluminum "taps"-

That is one reason that I said your adapter is so much more durable and elegant in design and execution.

Actually, I've been thinking that your adapter might work in a similar setup, making it more durable and avoiding having to buy an Infinity just for the battery compartment.

When I get the one you are sending, I'll try it and let everyone know how it works.

EDITED 5-2 Have already received the ARC/Inf adapter from "Mr. Bear"- the outside diameter is a little too large to easily use in the 1/2 inch copper pipe, although I do believe it could be press fit into a copper 1/2 inch "Butt connector" (No Jokes, Craig)and that mated to the regular 1/2 inch copper pipe for the battery holder if anyone wants to go this route.
