Gentlemen, I very much enjoy the exhanges here and look forward every day to logging on and reading about all of your exploits.
I was thinking of an application involving the use of three of the new Luxeons. I was wondering if it would be feasible to use a red a green and a blue to create all of the different colors in the spectrum.

I know that it can be done. I was wondering if maybe someone might know of a circuit that I could purchase that would do this. I have little electronics skill and was hoping that maybe I could pull this off without having to build a circuit myself.
My idea would involve using fiber optics to transmit these colors produced by the LED's to an acrylic fixture. I was hoping that someone could give me some guidance on coupling the luxeons to the fiber optic filaments.
The Luxeon website implies that these new LED's could be a replacement for the currently used expensive and hot running fiber optic illuminators. Since I haven't gotten my grubby little fingers on any Luxeons
yet I'm not sure if they would actually be bright enough to light up the small bullet fixtures that I want to use.I don't need a lot of broadcast light. More of an intense glow to light up the plastic fixtures themselves. These fixtures would be used in a displayed piece of art rather than in an illumination fixture.
Everything that I read about them makes me think that these Luxeons might be a great replacement light source as opposed to halogen or metal halide bulbs. Just don't know if they would be bright enough for the job.
The narrow beam produced seems like it would be the perfect size to couple to the fiber filaments without much light loss.

If anybody has any thoughts on Luxeons and fiber optics....please cough em up.
