Hi everyone.

i'm new here, so please don't murder me just yet.
I am a self confessed light junkie. I have to many lights on my cars, trucks, my head, my hat, on my keyring and even keep a torch under my pillow when I sleep.

I need some more help in deciding a new LED light for my specific purposes. Recommendations based on my requirements would be very appreciated:

1. LED based - cree perhaps?
2. Used in a tactical/hunting situation - must be rifle mountable somehow..
3. must be able to throw a beam out to 100m around 2-3m wide at impact point
4. rechargable batteries
5. burn time at least 2 hours, the more the merrier.
6. Budget - $<100US

1. Just say you want a bright light, Cree, Seoul, Luxeon, and others are all LEDs, and most of what we talk about here are all bright high power LEDs.
2. Ok, a good number of lights can be rifle mounted.
3. Hummm, that's harder. You'll need a wider head for such a tight hotspot, so you either have to deal with the larger head of the light, or deal with a wider hotspot that can still reach that far.
4. There doesn't seem to be many rifle mountable AA lights, though people have attached them to rifles. Most AA lights also aren't throwers. They will reach 100m, but they will also have a wide beam.
5. Ok,
6. Ok.

Look at the Fenix TK20, it could be a good choice for you. There are other choices too, but I've got to get back to work.

Check out the Eagletac T20C2. It is a tactical flashlight w/a Cree R2 Cool white or Q4 Neutral white LED. Those are the most efficient LEDs currently available. It is very bright at 300 emitter lumens, and can throw a pretty tight beam quite far. You can run it off of CR123A lithium primary batteries, or 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable. The base price is about $90, with a tactical kit with weapon mount and remote switch option at $125. Run-time is decent on 18650, over 2 hours, although not regulated so output is going to drop gradually. I'd recommend the neutral white LED for outdoor use (colors won't look so washed out and grayish)

That's my suggestion, I'm sure people will have some other good ideas.

You might want to look at the Eagletac T100C2 as well. It uses a smaller CREE XP-E LED, which gives it a good amount of throw for its size. The T20C2 probably has similar throw, but less runtime because of its higher overall output.

This relates to this post.

It's impossible to give a good recommendation without knowing what your definition of "tactical" is.

Is this home defense? Are you in LE? Is it a replica? What are you're intentions for it besides hunting.

The EagleTac is a good option maybe.
A 6P with M60 is a good option maybe.

No way to give you a light to fit your needs without knowing the needs

thanks for the responses..

It's to be used in a hunting situation - open fields, forests. So I need it to throw out a beam at a distance. Would be great to have a spread/spot option as I sometimes hunt from a vehicle (armed with lighforce HID) and just need it to see my target that isn't in direct sight of my vehicle.

And as for the mount. Either scope or barrel mount. Going on a tikka T3 or a 22.. but I'd like to mount it on all my guns I own.

Well, if this light isn't going to be purposely, and intentionally, used against people, any light that works on a mount is going to be just fine as long as it's mountable.

Strength and mount ability are the only concerns.

I vote bored 6P from ElectronGuru with M30 and 18650.

A mount of LaRueTactical.com is very reliable.

Good throw and good spill.

If you are going to consider getting a surefire then you should look at the Malkoff MD2 or MD3 with a Malkoff dropin.

What about the AE Light P.I.

200 Lumen - Q5 - 4+ hours on rechargables

You need all the accessories that it comes with anyway. It's a bright light and good deal. It even comes in colors. As far as mounting goes...

use these with any tactical/edc light and a weaver mount

If you don't get the batteries and accessories it's in your price range.

They also have a dedicated gun mount tactical light.

You need something closer to a laser. I don't think you'll find that in a flashlight that mounts to a rifle and if you do, you're not going to want to lug the rifle around.

Ordered a Tiablo A9 with a collimator and rifle mount from torchworld.com.au

 hope it's the right decision..

ive found a tiablo a9 with collimator head??? Is this good?
The throw will be extremely good. 100 metres would be of no challenge to it at all, but the draw back is that you'd almost get no side spill.

Are you willing to accept this trade off?

If you don't like it, i suppose you can always sell it on CPFM, no biggie. =)
