Looking for suggestions or links for pouches, boxes, etc to carry one, or sets of two, or four CR123 batteries on belt. I have been using make-shift rigs such as a plastic camping gear watertight matches carrier (my helpful tip: Walmart emergency orange version holds two, waterproof, great for backups in glovebox or backpack but no belt clip or slot). Also used various cigar and paintball tubes for sets of four, tho similar awkward carry issues if not in glovebox or backpack. New tubes from Fenix on order but still long for EDC. Eclipse brand breath mints metal box is perfect for set of four, tho ends up in pocket rather than on belt (and leaves nagging if not realistic notion that they will all link and complete the four cell circuit via metal box and then my leg...!) Ideas and recomendations for belt carry or D-ring clip on? Thanks.

Thanks to Dave, Charles and Eric for great info and attached links. Three new ideas to suit all needs! I knew there were CPFers out there who had the answers! Now I have another addiction on top of my light-headed one... CPF!!!!!!

I usually like to have a SF spares carrier with 6 extras, but if I am going without a backpack and need to slim down, I have created an emergency extra pack with 2 x 123 in a blue diamond match box sealed against the elements with duct tape. Not designed for easy access or reuse, but it's a weatherproof emergency backup that takes almost no space. I carry that when I think 1 battery (the one in the light in my pocket) will be sufficient.

When backpacking, I carry a 4x123 slimline glow in the dark on my person, and the bulk battery stash in a ziploc.

K-Mart electronics dept has a section with small zippered nylon cases and pouches with belt loops. They are meant to carry flash-drives but will carry 6 CR123's perfectly. I even put a black ball-chain lanyard with them.
Just a clue.

:poke: 😀

Hi there, I usually carry 2-123s in an aps film can (the oval ones) pick 'em up at the film drop off counter at a drugstore (quick, before film becomes extinct) they're free and water resistant, and they fit easily in these things called "pockets"
Hope that helps,Shawn

Thats what I use as well, Countycomm sells carriers as well as other "useful" items but its way too easy to spend lots of money there. 😀

I carry two in a plastic waterproof match container from Wal-Mart. It's orange, and I put thin, closed cell foam (hobby & craft store) inside to keep the cells from touching each other and to keep them from rattling against the ends of the container. The match container is less than a buck and seems sturdy. What's not to like?

I was in a camera store sometime back and found these black, cylindrical, leather-like vinyl, single, film roll cases with a zipper top and strap or lanyard loop. They are soft sided, comfortable in your pocket, look really cool and hold four CR123's or five AA's perfectly. I think I only paid $1.98 for them. Also, Lighthound is selling OD colored, plastic, tubular, Two CR123 holders for $2.99, I just ordered one out of curiosity. I recently broke down, and paid the pricey, $17 for a SureFire SC1 spares carrier with lanyard. It's kind of bulky compared to the nylon zippered elec. media & flash drive pouches I found a K-mart, $0.77 to $4.95. However, the SC1 is water proof, very sturdy, holds six 123's and a spare P60, P90 type bulb and reflector, as well. SF has two other models to hold four batteries and different sized incandescent bulbs. Actually, aside from the price, the SF spares carriers are very nice.
Good luck.

Good info re web sellers. Also inspired by everyone's creative non-web suggestions, and looking for other low cost options for different situations, I spent some time at Walmart and ended up with a few emergency orange H2O proof matches containers (each holds 2 CR123s and at less than a buck each got one for each car glovebox and flashlight storage drawer/box). Also located a softsided CaseLogic MP3 zippered case with belt loop in camera/computer area that holds 4-5 CR123s well. In the craft section I located clear plastic tubes of glitter (less than a buck each) that have screw tops and hold 3 CR123s perfectly. Not as tough as cigar or Fenix tubes, but also take up less diameter and length space. Craft section also had 2" x 3" ziplock baggies that each hold sets of 2 to 4 CR123s perfectly (less than a dollar for a pack of about a million of them). Made the CR123 cells in the caselogic or anything else waterproof, including caseless carry for those of you able to tote batteries in pocket (one handed opening if you use your teeth to tear the top off musket style). Oh, sure, my neighbors were whispering about some "addict next door with all the little baggies spread out on the table" but were somewhat relieved to learn the addiction was flashlight fever. Noted also that the Little old Lady with Blue hair med section of Walmart and drugstores had waterproof nitro pill bottle fobs that hold one CR123 for about 2 bucks. Finally, located small clear plastic travel box full of non-name brand Q-tips that holds about 12 CR123s and fits into pants cargopockets and softsided zippered camera case with belt loop. End result? I will send for high end carriers from CPF web suppliers (to support our CPF friends), and use creative low budget solutions for activity specific EDC and long term storage. SASHA: perhaps you could batch everyone's suggestions into single location, as some of your longtime members and powerusers appropriately referenced some older different threads that also had great info. This Q has got to come up on recurring basis, with recurring suggestions and links. This has been great resource and helpful to me. Nice for new members not to have to reinvent the wheel. I appreciate all the help and the patience of the old-timers who have heard over and over again about H2O proof matches containers.Thanks.

You may want to waterproof the cells, just in case. Wrapping in clear plastic wrap and taping will add water resistance with little bulk. You have to be careful in handling, but it could make a big difference in an unexpected situation.

A few months ago, for example, I went to work expecting a normal day, with some rain in the afternoon, but no real problem. Several hours later, I had a terrifying drive -- and was nearly taken off the road by flood waters -- when Tropical Storm Dean moved into south Texas. Had I been stranded, a working light and spare, dry batteries could have made a huge difference in being found by rescuers.

All my best,
Dirty Bob
