Hey All,

I was just wondering if you folks have been having lousy runtimes with the stock 8NX nicad batteries. Mine have been running way less than the textbook 50 minutes.

I haven't sat down and timed it yet, but I would guesstimate that its around 30 minutes (if not less) and burntime and then the beam starts getting yellow-orange.

How many times have you charged it?

I got good 45-55 minutes light out of the two B90's I've timed. Having said that, just as I tend to swap out 123As early, the same goes for the B90's. Unless I know I can't charge them at home or in the car and so need all the runtime I can get, I tend to use the B90s for about 30-40 minutes each...

It's great that two batteries and a fast charger come with the 8xX and 9AN as standard so that if you want only the cream of each battery, the fast charger can take care of the used one.

One more thing I would add is that using the flashlight continously is not how I use SureFires most (practically all) of the time. I've found (although it's often too hard to work out) that I get longer runtimes, and longer periods of inital high output if I use the flashlights intermittently.

Do both B90's give you the same results?

Keep cycling the batteries and your runtimes should improve. The NiCad batteries that I've used from SureFire take a couple cycles before reaching optimum use. I've had my 8x for nearly 2 years and although I don't use it for 50 minute long intervals, I imagine I probably get longer than that out of them by using it intermiterly than if I used it non-stop.

Hmm... Interesting responses thus far. I've only cycled both batteries maybe a total of 3 times thus far. I guess I'll discharge and recharge the puppies and see if they last longer next time...

(And to think I gave away my cheesy PolyStinger!)

Give it a little more time and I think you'll realize that you made the right decision by switching to SureFire. And hopefully soon, but none the less, SureFire is working on a High Intensity 200 Lumen Lamp/Reflector assembly for the 8x/ax/nx it will be the X81. It will have a shorter run time, but more punch and with two rechargeable batteries you'll be golden.
