I was looking for a bright light to carry around and also to compliment my bicycle night riding and found this:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.9634

I'm thinking the runtime would be better with 18650 than 2xCR123A in other Q5 flashlights of this genre. The size looks more compact than Dealextreme's VB-16 HA-III Q5 Cree. The compact size looks handy to tote.

I was thinking of using a Two Fish Lock Block as either a helmet or handlebar mount. The price at about $25 looks like a better value than a Fenix Q5.

Any thoughts?

The light might change modes when you go over a bump. The circuity changes mode if there is a temporary disconnection of power. I would recommend a single mode or a high-low-off clickie for a bike light(like this light, or this light).

Also the light doesn't have any reviews so quality is unknown. But I have to say that that light looks great.

This actually won't change modes if you give it a sudden power loss (hit a bump) because it bases mode changes on how long it is left on, not how long it's left off. As long as the light has been on in one mode for more than 2 seconds, a single power loss will put it right back into the same mode. Two bumps in quick succession, however, would switch it.

What would you recommend UltraFire 18650 rechargeables or TrustFire? Reading past threads, the quality of the batteries seem to be uneven. AW batteries look great, but the cost is much higher. I'm wondering if the cost difference is worth it? Or, should I take my chances with the UltraFires?

Either battery brand should work.

Everett: What you are describing is a multimode driver with a memory. I'm presuming the Cree Q5 5-Mode doesn't have memory, which means it will always be on the next mode when you turn it on or when you tap the tailcap. If it does have memory, then it would work as you described it and should be fine as a bike light unless the bike commonly goes over bumpy surfaces.
