Hey all,
Im thinking about getting a Jet-I Pro V3. I think id like the OP reflector, and now im deciding if i want the R2 cool tint or the Q3-5A warm tint. as far as i can gather, the q3 will have less light output but will seem better because the color will be easier to see. but which one is newer and better? the cree 7090 xr-e r2? i basically want the pros and cons of each.... thanks!

Any idea what tint the R2 is? Even the difference between WC and WH can be quite significant, while both are still "cool white". WH is a pretty good tint, especially if you are using your light in the concrete jungle (city, indoors, etc.). A warm tint will have a bit lower raw lumens count and might not have as much "punch" but it should be nicer for seeing with and picking out detail when outdoors, especially if in the forest. The cooler white tints can seem to wash things out at times. It can also come down to personal preference in the end...

From what I read, the warmer tint might seem just as bright as the R2 in real use because you can see colors easier.

But in the end, it's up to you.

I don't have a neutral white LED light yet, so I can't give my personal experience.

:welcome:

get the r2,
unless you have the monetary ability and patience to sell all your none-neutral lights to have them replaced by neutral lights. or the mod ability to replace the leds.
if you can, go for the q3-5a.

the best way i can describe it is. do you want a bright black and white or a slightly darker color screen tv.

... I have found this to be the case with the 5A tints I own and have used. Brighter is not always easier to see by, provided the lights are within ~40 Lumens of each other... IMHO

I have a couple lights for which I own both the R2 and Q3 5A versions. I agree with the previous poster that said it is ultimately a matter of personal preference. But for my money, the Q3 5A is the hands down winner in terms of real world usability, particularly outdoors. If you are using this light for law enforcement or self defense purposes, then go for the brightest flux bin possible--who cares about chrominance? But if it is going to be a general purpose light (e.g., for night-time walks, camping, etc.), then IMHO the neutral whites can't be beat.
