I know people on here know Cree binning very well. Aside from knowing the letters I.E Q4 is not as bright as R2 I am rather clueless. I am afraid that the XP-E binning and labeling data sheet only confused me more. The binning sheet is here. http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLampXP_B&L.pd
I am looking to order a cool white XP-E from cutter. They have two bins listed, XPEWHT-L1-5B0-P3-0-01 and XPEWHT-L1-7A0-P2-0-01. I am assuming the P3 is better than than the P2. What sort of lumen out put at 350ma should I expect and are they cool white, neutral, or warm.

Thanks
Jay

Just updated available bins

Thanks guys that answered my questions. Was hoping for some better bin xp-e's but I will just have to step up to the mc-e and build yet another light with some 10mm squares as soon as the xp-e gets up to the Q5 level.

I believe the XP-E will be available up to Q2 once widely released. The tints linked are warm, which are generally binned much lower than cool white.

I've found that both for outdoor use, and for color-contrast in general, neutral white is actually mor useful lumen-for-lumen than a Q5 or R2 in cool white. In most cases where I've "downgraded" Q5 WCs to Q2 5A's I've found the light is actually more useful on the whole despite the lower output.

That said, it's unfortunate that the 5B is only available in P3, as the 5A, which is the same color temp but reddish instead of yellowish, has been available in Q2 for some time in the XR-E package.

I believe a very compact emitter like this would be better suited for compact keychain-sized lights. Right now I'm running a Liteflux LF2x with a Q2 5A emitter inside for my EDC, but a smaller emitter would allow for a deeper, longer throwing reflector to be potentially fit in the same space, or the same throw to be achieved with a shallower reflector (saving space in a light where space is already at a premium).
