Cree XP-E Heatsinking question.

you may be able to get away with that with 350mA but defiantly not 700mA. depending on what you are going to use them for you can use plane ol aluminum bar from home depot/lowes.
 
Even though it says heatsink,that's not a heatsink per say. It's an electrical isolation mount that allows a good portion of the heat to transfer to the metal base plate of that "star". These are made to be mounted to a larger hunk of metal like the flashlight body that can absorb the heat the LED generates.
I would not push a XP-E mounted to one of those alone to more than about 150 mA continuosly for more than five minutes if you want your XP-E to last.
