Just wondering...seems like there are several drop in type LED mods that are brighter and have longer run times than what you can get from Surefire. Why is that? Why isn't Surefire producing comparable lights? Certainly they have the capability...don't they?

Peace

Because Surefire is truthful, and 90% of those drop-in's are lying about their output, or they're measuring emitter output and not "out-the-front" output.

Thats like saying,my Smartcar is better than your Tank because it gets better mileage and it goes faster.

That's because they don't have to. People will still buy their products for top dollar because of the brand name.
But I bet surefire's do what their ment to do just fine, even if they do have older leds in them..and those who want the latest technology get other brands or dropins into their surefires. ;)

It has little to nothing to do with "Brand Name".

People who buy primarily because of brand name are a miniscule part of Surefire's market.

Surefire's primary market are Military and Law Enforcement agencies.Environments where dependability equals life.

To imply that that most other lights are equal in construction to Surefire indicates either someone is unfamiliar with the construction of brands compared,or their biased.

If someone wants to post more of this they should point out the specific differences they view as andvatages, other than brightness and runtimes.

In other words, constructive discussion instead of a backhanded way to bash a manufacturer or troll.

Dude, where ya been?

SureFire has been incorporating the latest high-power LEDs in their products for at least a year now.

They're using the SSC P4, soon the SSC P7, and lately, higher binned CREEs.

The latest E2DLs and E1Bs are using powerhouse CREEs and are smokin' lights that are rated twice their respective outputs.

Surefire uses OTF lumens where many other companies use emitter lumens. However, SF also uses "useful runtime" in the same exaggerated way which made LED Lenser so famous for deceptive advertising.

Pick your poison I guess.
