Hey guys, I have a 300watt power invertor that I use in my car. It has power cables that can directly connect to the car battery. Is it possible to connect those battery cables to the lead acid battery in my Thor?
That way I would have a portable AC outlet.
Would this idea work?
Thanks,

Hello Beaver,

Yes it will work, but I am not sure you will be able to get 300 watts from it. 300 watts at 12 volts works out to drawing 25 amps from the battery.

the thor battery will deliver 25 amps, I've pulled 30, but the voltage sag in the process will probably not run the inverter.

I think some inverters will run at lower wattage than max so it may depend on the load on the inverter you need to run as if it will work well or not. If you are running a 50 watt device off the inverter it may work fine for as long as the ampere hour of the battery suggests at about 5-6 amps would be my guess (inefficiencies). But I would say like the others...forget trying to get more out of it than what it is rated for at one hour figure half the ampere hour of the battery for an hour of inverter output. If the battery is 20 ampere hour figure you can get 120 watts or 10amp times 12v for an hour.

Is the battery rated at 7Ah?

If so then know that at 3.5amps it can only deliver 4Ah, and that inverter will have some loss.
