Hi to all! I want to ask if anybody has done an upgrade with their dualcross light? I read in bike forums that a lot of people already upgraded their DC lights with Cree Q5 or Seoul P4 LED's and it was very bright. But has anybody encountered problems with it after the installation?

:)

Haven't you post here very similar question some time ago ?
What kind of problems you are expecting / experiencing ??
hello Shemhazai,
i've just finished upgrading my dualcross 200 with Cree stars from Dealextreme as suggested elsewhere. The effort took me about 1h 20min (inexperienced in electronics).
The light output is much brighter now but i feel it's much more focal , leaving a more noticeable dark cone in between the beams. Noticed a similar result of your modification? Is the SSC P4 star beam wider perhaps, in case i'm not happy with the current two light-streams apart pattern?

The original optics is designed to work with Luxeon/SSC leds and after using Cree's you can't be sure about effect - main problem is to center leds with optics, appropriate centered cree's should give much wider beam than original luxeon.

can you be more specific on "centering" the led, because in reassembling it's obvious that the crystal cone is in pre-fixed position into the heatsink, the star led gets screwed in original location only, so you don't have option to relocate either, the cree bulb simply falls into the cone opening..
or is it possible to arrange sub-millimetre sliding of the led under the two screwheads before fixing it?

Yes, 1mm side and the effect may be different - it happens many times cree emitters are not centered on the stars - check that.

Hi, Has anyone tried upgrading their Cygolite Dualcross to Cree R2's?

I tried Q5's and it's bright but has anybody tried doing it with the R2's? Will it burn the circuit of the dualcross due to higher output needed? Sorry for asking but i'm still not that familiar with the new R2 bulbs. I just want to know if its possible and if the circuit can carry that voltage to the bulbs.

Please advice me.

:)Thank you

Hi, you can use R2 leds without problems, works perfectly the same as Q5 leds.

Greetings - Saludos

Q5 and R2 have almost the same current characteristic - the only difference is efficiency in converting current to the light.

There will be no circuit problems but...
The difference in brightness from Q5 to R2 is very small, around 7%, you will not notice this, it is not worth changing. Maybe when the R4s come out....

Thank you guys for your reply's. Now i know if ever i'll upgrade i can change it to the newer bulbs. :)

Good Day to all!
