yeah my D10 patriot, i am very disappointed with. First it came with some blemishes on the adonizing and now the switch is failing. Do they allow returns as I want to return this lite and get the LD10 like i should have in the first place..

Re: D10 and 4sevens

when did you buy it?

4 sevens seems to be on an anti nitecore rant lately, so I doubt they want it back...anyway they stopped being an official dealer a while ago, and also dropped their extended warranty policy.

Re: D10 and 4sevens

I would guess, as long as you bought it from 4sevens within the past 30 days, and you didn't buy it from their clearance section, you should still be able to return it.

Re: D10 and 4sevens

Depends on whether it is also in a visibly used condition. Can't restock something that's used.

Re: D10 and 4sevens

An alternative if the switch is failing and if 4sevens won't take it back is to contact Nitecore directly. I have an EX10 R2 ramping where the piston is tight and nigh on impossible to use and i emailed them and they have repaired it for free and emailed me to say that they had shipped it back to me. All i had to pay for was the postage to mail it to them.

The D10/EX10 are great lights and Nitecore's customer service is good too, so far i have sent 2 lights back, this current R2 and my previous (now lost) EX10 GDP+ where the threads broke and another occasion where my lens cracked and all have been handled with no hassle whatsoever.

Re: D10 and 4sevens

Not very confidence inspiring.
I would also stop selling a product if this was the rate of returns.

Yeah, the piston lights are capricious...

I have been able to service my EX10 & D10 all myself up to now, I just had an Extreme GDP which flickered, I noticed immediately testing the light when I got it, my dealer exchanged it without a problem (Thanks, Antony!!!) and teh replacement has never made any problems.

I can't say it often enough, I really don't suggest EX10 & D10 if you want a working light without any problems. Lights with a clicky or simple twisties are better for that purpose.

I've changed your thread title, as this forum deals with lights rather than dealers/manufacturers.

If you have an issue which you feel should be dealt with by the dealer, the best thing would be to contact him direct, or post about it in the MarketPlace.

If you want to continue discussing the light itself, I'll leave this thread open for you to do so; but let's leave dealer issues out of it.

I don't know about this, i adore the piston drive nitecores. I've had 3 D10s and 2 D20s. I sold my D10 GDP and got the rest modded. The driver in one of the D20s died out of nowhere though. The rest are still working fine, but i'm not a heavy user by any means.

I figure the best compromise for someone who dislikes half presses and wants a push and hold UI like myself is the electronic switch like the Zebralights or the Litefluxes. I still wish somebody would make a reliable mass market piston drive light though.

Before people start bad-mouthing Piston Drive, please remember that Nitecore isn't the only maker of piston drive lights, just the largest. They didn't design it either, though LOTS of people don't know that. Just put it in the search engine if you want to know more. Nitecore D10 and EX10 are the only piston drive lights anyone can get right now, though, which is a shame.

I contacted them and they were very professional they told me i could exchange it, and they told me that they have 2 comparable lights of better quality, the LD10 and the Quark AA R5. what are the differences between the 2 and which is the better light?

i can vouch for the ld10: it is superb (the low could be lower but if you get a new version with a pocket clip, either r4 or q5 are both excellent)

my d10 also came with chips on the anodizing (either from the factory or because i was sold a returned item, i'll never know but neither reason is a good one

i really don't like the piston drive, even though i do think i was lucky and got a good one. actually, i do like it in ways, as a clicky i really like it, i like the tactile feedback and the low sound compared to a normal clicky. it's the ramping that i just hate, such a fiddly gimmick. i would definitely prefer an sp model but i would buy the ld10 over it any day. the ld10 also has a really nice to use (albeit reverse) clicky, my favorite of the clicky's i've tried

the quark, i do not have experience of it so can't comment but if it were not for a relatively high low mode, the fenix is pretty much a 10/10 give or take aesthetic preferences

The Quark would be my preference. A lot has already been said on why "Quark is better" thanks to many small refinements but my reason is because the pocket clip is better and the Tactical UI is excellent.

I'd recommend the Quark AA over the LD10.

this is in no way an effort to say all 47's r5's are green but does anybody have one that is white tinted? all i hear is that they are mostly very green

i have never had a 47's light, living in the u.k and with the current economic climate they are just not a good buy for me financially right now even though i love the styling and features of the quark line (the clean styling and the low low mode really attract me) and would love to try them.

i have had 2 fenix ld20's: both neutral/slightly warm lovely tints, a q5 ld10 with a cooler more pure white tint with a great hotspot and an ld20 r4 with a very white xpg-r4. never a bad tinto or beam (maybe not all perfect beams but very excellent all the same) from any of my ld fenix's

all my ld's are/were the newer versions with pocket clips (i take them off my ld20 but they are great (aligned in the correct direction, how i like it anyway) on the ld10

My QMiNi AA, which uses the same LED as the Quark AA R5, is almost pure white. I'm very happy with the tint.
