D2flex + Piezo switch, adive needed please.

Could someone please explain to me in simple terms the exact purpose of the D2flex board? As i am Not sure i really get the whole idea of the D2FLEX?

Is it a driver or just a latching circuit?

Want I want to drive is 4 XPG Leds in series from a 3 cell lipo battery, so i have already got a blue shark boost driver from the sandwicheshoppe, custom made with an output set to 1.2A.:twothumbs

But i want to use a piezo touch sensitive switch that only outputs a brief electrical pulse like a momentary push switch would normally do.

So i was hoping i could wire the switch into the d2flex then pass its output onto the blue shark board. So i would be using the the d2flex as a digital latch effectively?

Am i barking up the wrong tree here?

"Woof." I think the D2Flex just provides PWM dimming, no current limiting. Where did you get the idea that it's a latching circuit?

To latch the driver on you could feed it with a latching transistors arrangement.

If you want to give a Blue Shark PWM modes a Remora PWM board is probably a better idea.

No interest in dimming, but it does say that it responds to a momentary press as its input just as if you were changing modes with a standard clicky...

Wouldn't that momentary press produce a momentary off?

I'd suggest the easy way out is to change the piezo switch to a latching switch.

The d2flex is a driver. It uses a single momentary switch as a control to operate it and select the various modes of operation.

It is not current based, but instead provides dimming control for direct-drive applications, or you can couple it with the hipCC for a current-based solution. The hipFlex is an all-in-one solution, but is fractionally too big for a Maglite unfortunately (otherwise it would probably be far more popular).
