D6(900/700)-R-2×18650 LED Diving Flashlight

While I don't have first hand experience of this, people who I've talked to (and read on the net) have said these lights get flooded very easily. I think I read somewhere that these lights are made by oxycheq (sp?), which backs up the flooding story as I remember seeing something on here about that. I vaguely recall some talk about Aquasuns on YD as well.

You'll probably be interested in this (scroll down to post #130 onwards) though Gav :)

I don't understand why there aren't more dive lights in this vein. It would bring prices down. Most of these types of lights are from Europe for some reason.

I'd love to find some bodies like this or similar. Magnetic switching, lens to eliminate spill, and in body recharging (nice but not essential).

I love magnetic ring switching, thick lens, etc. Even a Chinese knockoff would work. Or maybe I should say, especially a Chinese knockoff!

It's nice to look at expensive hand held lights but technology is changing so fast that it's not like you can buy just one light and keep it forever.

We just need better host bodies to work with. Well, Packhorse doesn't as he is doing just fine but I do.:mecry:

dony know why it would be flooding. i used the smaller one the d3 which is the exact same design on monday with no issues at all. actually thought it felf rather solid and well built.

Whitenoise has it backwards. edi-t makes it for Oxycheq. Edi-t is a Chinese manufacturer. They will make you a batch too with Whitenoise as the 'maker' if you like.

does it have a polymer optic as opposed to reflector?
Any idea if they promised focusing (flood to spot) feature came through?

I was looking at supplying these, and got a few samples.
The smaller 250lm light was ok, but needed the cheap o-rings replaced, as they were shot, and guaranteed to leak.
The larger light turned up DOA, and the manafacturer would supply a replacement only after I order some more.
What I found wrong with the D6:
Poor quality o-rings
LED not aligned with reflector
Dead driver
o-rings between the head and body are flat washer type, as opposed to proper o-rings.
Probably an awesome torch when used in the rain, but not a dive rated torch in my experience.
The D6 is now going to get modded (as is the CPF way) hopefully with a SST90 for use on the boat.

I can't remember where but im sure that i read somewhere that a lot of dealers were not going to stock the aquasun D6 as there were to many reliability issues with it.
It maybe on Yorkshire Divers where i read it....
