Date on LED life

I come across this research paper which answer all my questions on life of LED. The reseacher drive the LED with different current and measure the light output over 2000 hours. A must see for those buiding LED lights. No more guesswork on how hard to drive them.

Very interesting, but also very disappointing news!
This puts a damper on my LED night light which runs at 20ma. According to that article, at 20ma the light output will depreciate to 50% after as little as 9 months. If i lower the run current to 10ma it will take a little longer, like about 1 year and 1 month. Doesnt look good, i guess i'll have to disconnect it or else do my own test and see what the light output looks like 9 months from now. I'll compare it's output to a new LED 9 months from now and see how true the study was. Should be interesting. I'll compare it's light output to another LED in a few days and use the same LED to compare it with in 9 months and see what the difference really is.
