As the title suggests, I need help in choosing one of the below bright headlamps. I will mainly be using them for night running and working in the dim garage at night.

The Lenser H7 and the Primus Race are pretty comparable in price. I wonder which of the 2 is brighter and has a better battery life. I have heard complains about the Lenser H7 using 3 AAA's so I am leaning towards the Primus Race.

However, I really like the Dinotte 200L (the 200 lumens) and it gets pretty good reviews from MTBR forum. Of course the Dinotte costs more than the other 2 and another problem I have to overcome is that I have to make a headstrap and clip for it (advise on making or purchasing them would be appreciated). Below are links to the headlamps.

1) Lenser H7

2) Primus Primelite Race

3) Dinotte 200L

Just for comparison purposes, my friend lend me one of his supposedly 3watt headlamps. It was ok but I wish it was brighter.

All advices are appreciated.

I have no first hand experience with any of your choices.

But I would suggest that you also consider the Princeton Tec Apex, particularly the newest 130 lumen version. Although cavers complain about it not being quite as waterproof as claimed, many of my caving friends use these and they are quite durable. Princeton Tec also has good customer service and they always seem to replace headlamps which people break.

I would avoid that Dinotte as it is really made to be attached to a bicycle and is not really suited for your purpose. It's use as a headlamp is only useful if you plan to attach it to the top of a helmet.

I know someone with a Dinotte 400L. Standing in front of him when it's on is like being in bright sunlight -- several times brighter than any other headlamp I've ever seen. I think the 200L is basically one half of a 400L (Which has two LEDs), so it's going to be pretty dang bright on its own.

LED LENSER H7

just to have you an idea

3x AAA
cree bulb

the good thing
it has focus-flood system on the light
and has dimmer

the bad thing
its not water proof

next year they will come up with a rechargeable system
you can recharge directly (like mobile phones)
3xAAA- rechargeable - but also you can use a normal 3xAAA alkaline as subtitute:faint:
