Received my CL1H today. I loved everything about it until it started not turning on all the time. When I did get it to work it would shut off by itself. Got it to work again but only on high beam. Some times it will go out with movement. Is it just me that has these problems.? I am familiar with flashlights at least I thought I was. Any feedback?

Mine was kinda flaky too. I greased the threads both head and tail with Deoxit, and that seemed to help somewhat. I got the Deoxit from Newark Electronics, and it's a somewhat expensive solution at $31 a jar. You could try simply cleaning all the contacts you can see with a pencil eraser. I did that too. Now mine is more or less OK, although the light output selection is still somewhat flickery as you transition from low to high. At least it stays on solid.

I use this on my CL1H and DBS threads that need to make contact, only $4.99 and will treat a lot of threads:

Also I had some issues with the tail switch. I took mine apart, cleaned with deoxit, and when I put it back together I made sure the contacts made good contact with the holder that screws into the tailcap. Make sure the one makes good contact with the threads, I bent it out a bit, and screwed it all back together tight. If things aren't tight the switch might move around and break contact.

Also with V3 and DBS there should be a spare switch, you could try that one to see if works better than the one installed. I even went as far to open the switch and deoxited the small parts inside, but I warn you, there are very small parts in there (little springs) and if they all fall out it might be tricky to put back together. I probably didn't need to do this, I think my issue was more to do with the switches contacts not making tight contact. My V3 works flawlessly now.

Mine works as advertised, but makes a soft high-pitched sound, somewhere between a whine and a hiss, on medium and low modes. It makes no sound on high. This must be a function (a feature?) of the PWM modulation in the pill. There's not much I can do about that. :(

I would not expect dioxidation in a new flashlight. Even though I like the look and feel I don't want to have to play around with it to get it to work.

Any time you use aluminum in your current path, you WILL have to deal oxidation. Aluminum oxidizes in about 2.33187 nanoseconds, give or take a picosecond or two. Every manufacturer has to deal with that. So don't look at Dereelight and think it's only their problem! Even Surefire has to cope. And they do, by using the proper coatings and lubes. So putting Deoxit on an aluminum light is not a bad thing, but it should be done before it leaves the factory.

I just got my CL1H in yesterday. So far so good. I wasn't too impressed with the light and thought of it as just OK. That is until I took it outside last night :twothumbs
Instant love.

Mrgooch: I noticed that the spring tension was too weak on the Dereelights with an unprotected 18650 ( they're shorter). I got a longer 5mm screw from a hardware store to replace the one in the tailcap...this puts a bit more tension on the battery and front spring. Mine would change modes just by lightly shaking the light.

I have already returned it.Just too many variables. Besides it was the v.2 .Don't know why I didn't receive the new one.
I thought the light was a great choice.Everything about it was perfect.

I am curious where you ordered the light from? And how do you tell the difference between v2 and v3. I assumed I got v3 - but I could be wrong!

I think you have to order directly from Dereelight to get V3.0. They improved the spring tension for the batteries, improved the o-rings, etc. I'm not sure if any of the dealers have the V3 in stock yet, they probably just have V2.0's.

I saw a picture of one.It had it engraved on it,CL1Hv3. The one I ordered was from Lighthound Inc. of texas. Very good people to do business with.By the way the battery was a protected one.

I have looked for this light on Lighthound several times and can not find it. ? A search only comes up with the modules. I've had a hard time in the past finding what I'm looking for at Lighthound. Using Google, I was only able to come up with a page with a v2 2-stage W/an SSC P4 Smooth reflector. I'm looking for the new 3-stage Q5 MOP. Did you order it by phone?

Lite Me....I asked Lighthound [by E-mail] if/when? they were going to carry which lights and modules of the Dereelights they would be carrying [specifically..the various CL1H Ver 3 configurations] the answer was they were going to be getting the DBS in a couple of weeks. Nothing else has been said about the new CL1H or the new modules?

There have been so many quick updates from the newer manufactures that they, the dealers, may want to see how the market [customers] responds to the constant leapfroging of one model after another....This is not a bad [progress] thing, but if I were a dealer I would be concerned about carrying a large stock of some of the new models only to see them replaced with another replacement in a couple of weeks..and be sitting on potential large inventory that is not going to move....William
[the above is simply my thoughts not anything more than the one line DBS answer]

flash99dark, thanks for the reply. It's been my thoughts too about this fast moving flashlight market, meaning, sometimes dealers, as well as manufacturers are getting caught with old stock. Guess I'll just have to wait :mecry: ..cause

WadeF, thanks for the direction to the MarketPlace. I've followed that thread with interest, but, I don't do PP. A side benefit to that is, I save money. :sssh:

Thanks

I am having a small issue with the switch on mine now. Maybe 5 times out of 10 the following happens.

I press the switch and get nothing. A second press gets a flash. Then a third turns it back on. I am guessing the first press partially catches and the second one is turning it off (even though it was already off)? I don't know I have PM'd Allan to see what he thinks.

Other than that - I love this light. I am amazed at the distance I get out of it.

I had something like that happening jaythebull. Try tightening the retaining ring that holds the switch in the tailcap. If that doesn't do it, take the retaining ring out with the switch and make sure the switches's contact is making good contact with the tailcap's threads. I kinda bent it a bit so it would wedge against everything real good. I also cleaned everything with deoxit. It think if it's not tight enough the switch might move a little and break the contact.
