After seeing the wonderful tint of my XP-G R4 5B Kuku E-series drop-in, I decided I wanted more neutral tints. But it seems most (if not all) mfrs only use XP-Es or XR-Es for their neutral offerings, which result in much lower output than their cool white XP-G counterparts. So I picked up a couple of XP-G R4s in 5B tint and modded my old two Dereelight CL1H V2 drop-ins. These were the drop-ins before the multi-mode SD and SM modules were available. These only have 2 modes and change via tightening or loosening the head. I do have a 5-mode digital module with a XR-E Q2 (brighter than the XR-E P4 modules I just modded), but I prefer these simple modules more and like that these old modules have a much broader input voltage range (basically covers the ranges of both the SD and SM modules). I modded both my CL1H V2s with the R4 5Bs, but only took pics of one.

I loved my CL1Hs, even though they're 2 versions old, but found they were getting left behind more often due to the lower output compared to my newer lights. Now that I brought new life into them, I love them even more and they're going to come out on night walks and hikes.

Here's the pic of my one-of-a-kind CL1H V2 (the dark grey HA was a prototype that Dereelight never put into production).

Sorry for the poor focus, but this shows the XP-G. The reflector is the stock XR-E reflector, but it focuses the beam perfectly. My other CL1H has the SMO reflector and it focuses it great as well (albeit with rings).

The module itself. The tape is kapton to prevent shorting.

Lastly, beamshot...I suck at beamshots, but it at least shows a nice profile. It actually has a super smooth transition from hot spot to spill that I don't think I captured well in the pic.
