I read and study all the battery info. Many battery brands perform differently depending upon discharge rate. How can I determine the draw, in amps, that a specific flashlight operates at? I have more SF 6 series than any other flashlight type. I believe a 6P operates at 1 amp.

take off the tailcap and head of light you want to test. using a multimeter, touch the negative end of meter to back of last battery, and positive end of meter to positve side of led. this will complete the circuit and turn the light on, allowing you to see the amp pull. i think meter goes on 10a setting, unless you're lucky enough to have a meter with a 2-5amp setting, then use that. if it reads .7 ma, then youre drawing 700ma from the batteries, that is not the led drive level. im a noob at testing but that should get you started. someone more experienced may chime in later. good luck,
jason
