A while back I tried Autosol metal polish on cardboard to see how effective it was @ re sharpening ..
It worked ... Also made for a very bling edge !

Recently everyone seems to really be pushing Diamond stropping .. Hmmmm !
So I got me the cheapest selection I could find ..
A 8 pack of diamond paste .

10 7 5 3.5 2.5 1.5 1 0.5 micron diamond paste .
Only just got it .

But I had to try it , so went for the 5 micron paste .. Middle ground .
It removes steel . polishes the steel .. ( 5 micron on cardboard - old pepsi can box cardboard )
Actually , it did a really good job removing the grit marks from the edge ..
Is the knife sharper ? Well , it was already crazy sharp .
As Outdoors55 says , hair whittling sharp .
So in regards to sharper (?) I cant say . I can say that there are fewer grit marks . So the 5 micron really did something ..
Do you need to go finer ? Well , I got diamond paste down to 0.5 micron ...
I will have to see ... Maybe sharpen some knives with the diamond paste and nothing butt !

Just hit some rope with a plastic clone ...
Got the edge dull / not damaged .

Used cardboard ( Pepsi can box ) and 10 micron diamond paste ..
Easy peasy lemon squeezy ! Just the smallest amount of diamond paste .
A few minutes of stropping , and the edge was back ..

Then hit the leather strop ( no compound - just pure cow leather ) .
And the edge is scary sharp .
