Surefire now has a "E1L" [comprised of the new ("4th Generation") KL1 Head, an "E1E" body and a clickie tail.]

also...

Browning introduced a light similar in function to the SF U2 in their 'Black Ice' series that is a 5Watt Luxeon that turns on high and then steps down 4 levels to off with each push of the button. Comes in that cool Mossy Oak camo too *S*!

I manage the largest Outdoor Sporting Goods store in Suburban Detroit, and we just got sent 2 displayers [similar to the old style "Executive Displays" that had and E1E and an E2E on it], and these new Displayers have an E2E on the bottom and this new E1L on top with a bullseye to aim the square beam of the KL1 (E1L) at.
It's a SWEET LITTLE light*S*! [Don't know a price yet though?]

I handled the Browning light on Friday, the one I used had blue and red led's in it as well. Of course I took out my G2 to show the guy and the Browning was no comparison. During his demonstration he kept shining it across my eyes to show me how bright it was. I handed him mine and told him I wouldn't do the eye thing with it, he hit the button and said "holy S***". I love that reaction.
I had a hard time understanding why a company would introduce a light that has a clicking switch for deer hunters..
Fit and finish was good, it felt good to hold.

BOLTGUN - I'll try to get some pix up soon.

PYDPIPER - That's not the same light. That light you saw was a 2004 that had an incan as the center light and it's beam was destroyed by 6 (2-red, 2-blue, 2-white) LED's in the reflector. This new one is a brand new 2005 Proto with a single 80+ lumen 5Watt Luxeon [the packaging comes with a predominant Luxeon sticker on the face of the clam pack].

Thanks Russ, right after posting that I went to Browning.com to have a look, and you are correct. As a matter of fact the light I was Handling was a cheapie. I spoke before I looked..
Browning has some very nice lights! I am particulary interested in the suction/magnet/permanent mounted light for the roof of the truck, with remote control! Two of those operating on the same frequency would be a nice addition to my truck..
Our big hydro companies use these.

....that said though, I still have to agree that a G2 is still one of the all time best 'butt-kickers-for-the-buck' ever produced (easy to find[unless you got the new G2T *L*], warm, light, non-conductive, more natural shock absorbtion than a light that costs twice as much, more friendly to the ever popular "hold it in your teeth while you struggle with the tire jack" technique, blah blah blah. It's the first light I try to sell every customer new to high performance lights into if it fits their needs. Surefire knocked it out of the park with that $34 dynamo *S*!

Hey Gander_Man,
Welcome to the time trap, sucker! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif

Sorry you didn't come to SHOT here and we could have really indoctrinated you into the CPF black hole! (why do you think we all have more than one light! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Yea! But I would have wanted to be able to still see when I got home *L*!

Either way, I have full confidence in your ability to tempt me into one black hole or another /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gifin the future as the amazing quality of your products have proven MANY times in the past *S*.

On a serious note - I REALLY hope you had a good time at SHOT. You deserve it for all you do through out the year for hundreds of people on this forum *S*.

Wow.. I hit Surefire's site straight away without even looking at KDOG3's post /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Really....IT'S ABOUT TIME! I should have guessed that the E1L/E2L were their respective power packs with the KL1 stock since that is the only LED conversion head that comes as a conversion ONLY, without a complete kit. Every other current LumaMax head comes as a kit (KL4 - L4, KL5 - L5, KL6 - L6). Well done Surefire! I know folks who want to purchase the E1e+KL1, but don't need the incan bezel.

The G2 is a wonderful way to introduce people to the magic of Surefire without so much sticker shock. I placed an order to help a friend order 2 of them, next thing I knew I was placing another order on his behalf for six... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm even more tempted by Surefire's LED Outdoorsman. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So... I know I saw a picture somewhere but what is the length difference between the L1 and the Kl1/E1E? Is the L1 substantially longer?

The L1 is about the length of one CR123 longer than my E1e+KL1 3rd generation.

Where is the "This Thread Is Useless Without Pictures" graemlin when we need it?!??!

Does anyone know if the new G2(with the lockout tailcap) will be the same price as the old one?? Just wondering.
