Hi guys,

I was looking for a cheap spare headlamp with zoom & dimming functions, predominantly for working in lofts etc as I'm an electrician.

I saw these 2 on DX, but not exactly sure what the difference is.

sku117193 says 3.6v - 4.5v
sku156044 says 1.5v - 4.5v

so would the latter be better for use with rechargeables ?

Strangely in the photos though, there's a picture of the same box and model number in both items.

Any advice welcomed, thanks folks

I was so convinced that they were the same lamp that I bought 117193 because it was cheaper and had reviews (unlike 156044) and never looked back. I was pretty happy with it, but shed no teats when a friend broke the switch in a cave a few months after I bought it. For your purpose it should be nice, assuming the switch holds up, since the beam in its widest setting is great for working on things close-up and the full range dimming is great too. I hated the strobe though, since you have to cycle past it every time you want to turn the thing off.

The 117193 works fine with rechargeables. I'd say ignore the voltages that DX lists. When your NiMH cells drain down to less than one volt each and the whole lamp is getting 2.7 it will work fine. I doubt that the 154044 will work at only 1.5v but I don't think that is what they are saying, I think they are just saying that generally alkaline batteries produce 1.5v each and when wired together they would max out at 4.5.

Thanks Mooreshire, I have now ordered one :twothumbs
Do you have any idea how bright this light is on full power?
I wondered if it was anywhere near the claimed 200lm
And maybe you could give me an idea on real world runtime
Thanks again
