Ok, so I'm rather confused here

What's the difference between the Defender D2 and Centurian M2 Surefire lights other than the cost and finish??? From what it looks to me they are exactly the same but the M2 is more expensive.

Do they both come with both the 65 and 120 lamps??

I thought the same thing until I looked into it... http://www.surefire.com/personaldefense2.htm
The same two Lamp modules; P60 & P61 are used by both flashlights, but I'm not sure if the D2 has both...

The D2 is a new 6P with LockOut TailCap; It is more water resistant than the 6P, but not waterproof, & has a pocket clip which helps to stop the sleeker new design stop rolling.

The M2 is the Millennium version of the 6Z with LockOut TailCap, Military Level III Hard anodizing for extreme toughness, durability & electrical isolation. It has a CombatGrip & pocket clip. The Lamp bezel is not round, so it'll stay where you put it. The M2 is fully waterproof, so can be used at depth underwater. It can also be used in Methane-rich or explosive/corrosive atmospheres without damage to internal components.

I would strongly suggest as with all flashlights, make sure the "o" rings & seals aren't broken or dirty before use. Use a little silicon grease, & replace the "o" rings at the 1st sign of wear. Check the seals after exposure to CH4 & other gases as the seals may be damaged after prolonged exposure. Clean the flashlight after submersion. Treat it like a gun or any other tool - with respect. It could help save your life.

So, the M2 is the toughguy flashlight, whilst the D2 is for those who don't need all the added features.

The Lamp Modules are the same, as are the runtimes.

I am getting an M2 myself. I don't mind paying that bit more for the best. (not that I'm a toughguy, I'm just accident-prone!)

The same goes for the M3 and the D3, I'm also getting an M3, although the M3 is far, far more advanced than the D3, and brighter with shock-isolated Millennium Lamp Modules.

I hope this helps.

I suggest you visit www.SureFire.com, & the forum there is most informative.

Please take what I've said as a guide only. Talk to SureFire, they KNOW what they're talking about!

and went with the D2 Mabey someday I'll upgrade to the M2.

I have no problem with the new D Series, I was even considering the SRD3 from Lagger Pro. The SRD3 is a D3 with a compact Turbo-Head. "It produces 105 lumens with an extraordinary tight Millennium oval beam and runtime of 60 minutes on 3 DL123A Lithium batteries."

It sounds very tempting.

I'm far more tempted to get an M3 and an M4 Reflector unit to make the M3 into a TurboHead flashlight. SureFire suggested this. I don't know where I can the spare M4 Reflectors as most places don't do the M4 just yet.

I'm SureFire will provide me with one if I'm willing to pay for it!

The D2 only comes with the P60 Lamp. Other than having the lock out tail cap and pocket clip it's almost exactly like the 6P's I've seen.

Not as highspeed as the M2 but it will work for me

This is a backup to my Mag-charger and somthing I can carry in civvies when out and about. Think the pocket clip will come in handy in the back pocket.

I just got an M2 today. I've had the 6P and 6C in the past. I really like the finish on the M2. It's much, much better than the black finish on the regular Surefire line, IMHO. It looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

does that means the M2 have the p30 and 31 bulb??
so wat it one of them is toasted,
like if i use the lower power bulb a LOT den it get burn,
wouldn't that leave me with only the highter power bulb???

The SureFire M2 is a 6V (2x 3V DL123A lithium) flashlight.

It uses either the P60 or P61 Lamp Modules.

These are the same two 6V Lamp Modules as used in other SureFire flashlights such as the 6P; 6Z; D2; M2; (G2 - coming soon)

I now have an M2. It is superb. I carry 6 spare batteries and the P60 Lamp Module in a SureFire SC1.

Unlike if the bulb in a MagLite broke, and you've got a lesser quality spare for backup. With the M2, you have a choice of light output, not quality.
I run fresh batteries with the P61 for about 10 minutes, and then swap to the P60 to get ages of light out of the batteries. Of course, having three sets of spare batteries gives me the option to keep running the P61 at peak output.

At the end of the batteries' useful lives for flashlight use, I retire them to a 12B Hurricane as part of a continues rotation. In this way, I get great value on batteries, and have enough 12B emergency lights to spread around my house in times of power-out.

I have the P61 on order so I have backup for if my origonal P61 goes. I try to have spares for all my flashlights.

so u still need to change the lamp to get a diff output. so in short wats makes the price differences in the two lights??

The M2 is an all together tougher flashlight. It has features such as the anti-roll bezel, CombatGrip and Military Level III anodizing for superior resistance against scratching etc, and is electrically non-conductive. Also, I think the M2 has increased water resistance, and can be used more safely in more hazardous environments.
