I am now reading the descriptions on several sites, but am not able to find, why the T1 is 1" shorter. (?)

both are 2 pc. CR123s, right?
(both also forward clickie?)

what is the obvious diff, that I miss to see?

They're both at 85 lumens, but the T2 has a run time of 5 hours as opposed to the T1's 1.5 hours. The T2 has a range of 200ft to where the T1 is 150ft. They both have tail switches.

The big jump is the T3 with its 100 lumens.

The 2007 T2 (not yet released) will have a flared head as well -for basic dimensions see the redesigned for '06 XO.

Perhaps the reason the new T2 is longer than the new T1 is to account for the T2's new flared bezel and larger reflector.

Unless they are using totally different emitters, I don't see how they can both be rated at 85 lumens (at emitter), both use 2x123CRs, but have runtimes of 1.5 and 5 hours. The marketing folks came up with something impossible to swallow.

Yea, I've noticed that as well. You'd think a company could at least be accurate in thier catalog. Such poor attention to detail just turns me off and makes me spend my money elsewhere. Maybe Inova should let their enginers publish the catalog next year. It may take longer to get out but it would be accurate.
Guess I'll just have to wait for CPFers to post some reviews so I know what the true specs of the lights are, though with K2s I'm not expecting much. It's too bad too, as playing around with some of the new Inovas they have some really nice reflectors.

at the sites I looked at (brightguy and lighthound f.e.) the T2 was considerably dimmer,
but I thought runtime and this size diff might come from different battery size
(even when 2 CR123 is mentionned)
?

Both the T1 and T2 use the same "85 lumen rated LED". The only difference is in how the LED is driven. The T1 LED is driven hard for max bright with short run time. The T2 LED is significantly under driven to achieve higher efficiency with lower output but several times the runtime. The new T2 probably puts out no more than 50 lumens I'm guessing. They gave the new T2 the flared head for enhanced throw, (and perhaps other beam modification like wider hotspot etc.,) and to maximize the benefit from the under driven LED source. (I learned this from just reading MattK question and answers in the other long Inova 2007 products thread)

The confusion is, as usual, the result of Inova's… um… marketing people. (Incidentally, someone at the top doesn't want to disclose what LED they are using in the new X1 and the new Bolt series. Probably all a part of marketing hoopla… so that people don't find out they aren't using the latest LED's? Who knows… but in this thread covering the Bolt series, it is strongly suspected they use the "Rigel" LED in the new X1 and Bolt)

Why did they use the K2 emitter? Very inefficient

I'm sure the engineers wanted to. But Inova is probably locked into some kind of agreement with Lumileds to use their LED's. I bet the Inova CEO and bigwigs play golf with the Lumileds chiefs and therefor it's all wrapped up. Besides, Lumileds will come out with newer products, and be on top of the heap for a while... and around it goes.
The machine grinds on, money floods in regardless... and they want the consumers to not ask such questions and just buy based on wattage numbers. The bigger the number on the package the brighter it is. It's all been worked out for us :barf:

It's not a Rigel, it's not a Nichia LED at all, it is absolutely, positively a LumiLED's emitter in the new X1/Bolt 3A.

I'd bet Cydonia is correct - the T2 is likely more in the 45-50L range - aka 1W. If the T1 is 85L and assume 3W and runs 1.5hrs, then 1W and 4.5-5 hours for the T2 is the logical conclusion - you'd get the extra 30mins from the higher lumen/watt at the lower drive current. Because the output is lower you'd want the bigger optic thus the T2 is basically an XO with a T series switch, finish, and higher bin sort emitter.

Matt, can you tell me if the T2 is as bright as the XO3 or if the XO3 is brighter? I really like the T2 body style, but it looks like the XO3 is made brighter. Thanks.
