Dimmable controller circuit ?

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for a way to put a variable dimmer on standard torch LED pill.

So instead of three modes (high, mid, low) the PILL can be adjusted to any light level.

I have looked into PWM control and reckon there must be a commercial available PCB I can get?

My LED is an night vision IR at 850nm, the existing IC driver is a 3 mode and takes up to 8v.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ray

The single component item is called a trimmer pot...they are usually soldered onto the circuit board. While I've never heard of a separate piece that was designed specifically for flashlight construction, I don't see why you couldn't build it yourself using a few base components that are available.

Y'know Nitecore makes a light with that type of dimmer. I wonder if it would be easier or a better idea to simply swap out the LED in that light (Nitecore P26) than to try to build a custom add-on that will still work in an existing body.

Thanks man,
I think i have it sorted, ordered an adjustable current driver on eBAY. that comes with a Pot and circuit to make it efficient.
