I don't work for them or affliated or get kick backs for mentioning this. I just found this on BikeForums.

$100 for the taillight sans batteries and charger.

$99 for headlight sans batteries and charger.

$3 to ship in USA (I think) and it was something like $15 to ship to Canada. Turned out with the high dollar in Canada we're getting it cheaper on Dinotte's site.

well, that pretty much maxes my CC out. :green::mecry:

oops.

i'm a bad boy.

another Dinotte 200 lumen headlight, to match my Dinotte 200 lumen taillight.

i'm a bad bad boy. Going to stand in the corner now. And look for a second job.

Thanks for posting the link Zero_Enigma!

Just placed an order and it came out to $95 + $19 shipping for a total of $114 CAD. Offering the stripped down package is great since I already have batteries and plan on mounting it using a TwoFish lockblock (or bikeblock for helmet).

Couldn't find the LED spec but at least the light is moddable since DiNotte offers a factory upgrade of the 5W version to this 200L model. Figured at this price I could do some experimenting with optics, reflectors and change the emitter later on :)

Should be here by the end of next week, I'm in the west end but am always downtown. If you want to check it out shoot me a PM.

Mos,

No problems. Always sharing the savings as I find them. Hey who knows, if you can't afford it and someone else or the masses buys it and some of those people are upgrade-aholics to new lights perhaps they'll sell you thier light they bought 3 months ago for cheap when they buy a new light. :grin2::popcorn:

I'd love to checkout the light in person. Seems like most bike shops in T.O don't know WTF Dinotte is. Heck some even floor me when I ask about Lupine and they don't know. I fiugre if the shop sells L&M they should know the bigger light names and have experience with it. They only know of NiteRider, Cygolite, L&M, Cateye, and BLT. Seems like they only stick with names they can sell at high prices and make the public think there are no other choices but to take those ones at the prices they set then open up more choice with lights that are as bright and cheaper.

Man I'd want to both the front and taillight but I know that's already $200 CDN right there. Aparently it's something like $14.40 for S/H for me even with multiple items which is a bonus if you can afford it. :D

I'm probably going to go for a tailight first once I check out my fundage. I'm north of the city and already have front lights (cheap setup and MEC mix-match) and it seems the front light is not as much as the issue as a tailight in my area. We have a lot of speeders and such. Downtown is tight and conjested in my experience so a PB Superflash is more then enough downtown for the tailight IMHO but a good strong and powerful headlight or helmet light is more of whatI'd want if I was downown as I see the parked cars all around. It's different then up in the 'burbs. Sure having both would be ideal but I'd have kill another porcilen pig if you know what I mean. :duh2: :shakehead

Suppositly the 200L is 200lumens. There was talk a while ago (forgot the board) that one of the members of the Dinotte crew was there and I think (don't quote me but it does make sense) that the upgrade is a SSC P4 U-bin LED seeing how the upgrade was offered a few months ago before the Cree Q5 was released. I like Dinotte's approach of upgrading then forcing you to buy a new light like the other companies which royally pisses me off.

I figured this is a golden deal for all CPF'ers that ride seeing as most of use have spare cells all over the place. Besides it does not lock you into buying a charger you don't want and can get a better charger (ie. Maha).

Wow, DiNotte ships fast! Only took 12 hours to fill my order and the light is on its way now, at this rate it could be here mid-week. I hear you about the limited brands up here, most lines in Canada are distributed by a few major players like Cycles Lambert so if they don't carry it then you're not likely to see it in stores.

Found some pics online and from slightly bluish beamshots the P4 used looks like W0 or X0 tint, at the minimum it can be swapped out for V0 tint and/or higher flux when available. Spotted something I don't really like, the LED sits on a PCB and will likely be replaced with a heatsink mod to improve the thermal path.

Using a P4 + reflector modded PT EOS helmet mount and PB superflash tail right now, 200L will end up on my bars for now until I finish a Triple Cree setup for next season :)

you wont be dissapointed with the Dinotte. I have their tailight its BRIGHT.

Just fo kicks and giggles i hiked up the Twin Lions on the North shore of Vancouver BC, and lit up the taillight. My roomy could see the blinking orb from Main Street and Broadway Vancouver. Thats a VERY long distance from the mountian.

motorists move intot he second lane when they come up behind me. They cant stand the intenstity of the light.

FYI, about the heatsinking...there is nothing to worry about. when your riding there is ZERO heat buildup, even whwne stopped for a awhile there is no heat buildup.

Care to replicate that again and take a photo from afar for 'full effect'? I'd love to see that. How many modes are there with the tailight? High/mid/low/strobe/flash?

I'm not sure I should thank you, Zero. I went looking at this single headlight bargain and ended up buying the lithium dual headlight and taillight set! It should be more versatile to play with and I do prefer the better connectors and lithium batteries but the single AA units were a very good price for a very short time. At least I got free shipping.

Maybe I should have bought a couple for my kids?

Thanks for pointing out the link. :twothumbs

Can I be considered one of your 'kids'? :sssh::nana::devil:

I ended up getting the AA tailight because in the future should I be traveling and such AA is headache free and you can find almost anywhere in my experiences more then AAA at times. Heck if you're in the field and see someone around with some electronics or such you could also barter for AA's and you're good to go.

Hey Dinotte is the only company that I can recall so far that actually lets you upgrade the lights over time by changing the LED's as LED technology advances. Other companies just force you to buy a new unit. It would be nice if the Cateye Double/Triple Pro's followed Dinotte's lead and offer LED upgrades then forcing people to buy a new unit. I love the Cateye case but not the price of the unit. :sick2: Case feels uber rugged (moulded aluminum to my understanding) and can probably survive being rolled down a mountain and keep on going.

I'm a recent convert to Eneloops and I did like the idea of using the AA but as a city recreational rider, there were many reasons why I went lithium:
  • Those 9V style connectors on the AA packs had been something that some reviewers had mentioned as being less than quality.
  • The AA pack and bag looked like fair weather items. I didn't think they looked like they would stay very dry in a rain storm. The lithium packs appear to be better sealed.
  • Recharge to using times ratios are better with the lithiums.
  • I can mix and match lithium packs and lights. AA lights require one pack each.
  • On a normal day, the lithium dual head and tail set is approximately $40.00 cheaper than buying two AA heads and one AA tail and deleting extra chargers and batteries!
However, had I been a serious user of lights like a tourist, I would have bought the AA's and fabricated new battery packs. That weekend sale price was a steal.

Thanks again.
