direct driving 4 S bin Lux III? how?

ok I have my PQS and 4 S binned luxIII's in a 2 D mag right now but it doesnt seeem as bright as my PTS with 3 T binned LuxIII stars in it. I'm thinking of putting back the T bins in the 2 D mag (driven by Fatman)

question is now, can i direct drive 4 stars in a 4 D cell mag, using 3 (NiMh) D cells or do i need 4 cells?

Well, a board is probably the way to go... I did a PTS with 3 RW0H Lux I stars direct driven on 3 alkaline D cells and wired the stars in parallel. I was very impressed with the output.

I plan on converting that to 3 TX0H Lux III stars still direct driven and building a PQS with 4 RW0Hs in a 2C, but I'm going to run it on 2 18650 cells and some kind of board... I'd like something like a 1,200ma or 1,300ma regulator.
