A few days ago I got a Streamlight Polypro 3C and also a 4AA. The 3C has a respectable beam pattern, but the 4AA doesn't. I fooled around with the bulb/reflector and got a half-way decent beam, without a hole in the center, but when I screwed the bezel back on, no matter how carefully, that #!$%&!!$# hole was back. Any ideas or opinions?

Hmm.. my Streamlight 4AA has a good beam, but I did have to play around with the lamp to get it to be centered, etc. One thing you might try is not quite seating the bulb fully; the filament in your lamp may be a tiny bit low, giving you a spot with the hole in it. Leaving the lamp a bit high may put the filament where it belongs. Also, try just taking out the lamp, and rotating the lamp 180 degrees; somtimes this will make a *big* difference in bipin lamps. I like my Streamlight 4AA, although it's really too big for pants pocket carry. With winter coming on, it will take up residence in a coat or jacket pocket. The 'tail' switch makes this a nice light. The 3C light is very bright for it's size, too.

When I bought my Streamlight UltraStinger, I had problems getting a good beam, even using two different lamps. A phone call to Streamlight resulted in 2 new bulbs in about a week. They seem to be pretty customer friendly. Sorry, I can't find their 800 number right now... ah, just remembered where I put it; it's 800 523-7488 Give them a call; I'll bet they'll send you a new lamp and/or reflector. Does the reflector have any bits of plastic keeping it from sitting flat on the lens? I've seen this from time to time, in flashlights with plastic reflectors. Good luck!

Gandalf,

You're a bloody genius!! Not fully seating the bulb did it. Many thanks!

That's the first time I've been called a 'bloody genius'. Ok, it's the first time I've been called a 'genius', too.
Glad it worked.
