Flat board + wet and dry sanding paper !

I ordered a mixed lot of wet N dry , instead got 10 sheets of 800 grit .
Already had some 1200 on hand , so my DIY knife sharpening ? Well it's not a stone !
I think 800 / 1500 would have been better or 1000 / 1500 .
You want something that will raise a bur and then a grit to help remove the bur . 800 / 1200 is to close . But it's what i got .

Thing is - it worked much better than expected . Again , 800 / 1200 .. ? It was not till I went inside and leather stropped the knife that the edge got really good !
So if you want to try this , then spread out the grit . One to refine the bevel / create a bur . And a grit to clean the edge .
The amount of effort it took was .......... minimal ! Far more effective than I would have thought . I should have done this 40 years ago .
